Otherwise please feel free to share your stories on here and invite other Women to do the same and lets build a supportive community and get our voices heard.

Im going to start the ball rolling by posting the below photos of my Father and his old comrades. He was John (Johnny) Unwin. He served on Christmas Island 1957-58. He died in 2004 of what we now know to be exposure related cancers. Like many men he didnt live to see his medal. He also never spoke a lot about what happened out there, but he did tell me of the hands over the eyes, the xray of the bones due to the flash, but most of all he was very upset about the all the dead wildlife and he was very concerned about what happened to the native islanders following their departure. Of course as this was all before the internet and social media, Dad never did really find out what happened to them and so I have been on a bit of a mission to find out on his behalf. This research into the women of the pacific islands and how they are now telling their own stories, led me to realise how little we know of our own womens stories and so here we are.

I look forward to building a supportive community through this page and project and who knows maybe we can arrange meet ups further down the road.

Welcome to Lost Voices – Women of the Fallout.

This page is a home for the stories that were never written down — the quiet truths carried by women whose lives were shaped by the nuclear test programmes across the world. For too long, these stories have lived in the shadows. Here, they are invited into the light.

I’m here to listen to the women who lived through the long aftershocks:
those who lost fathers, husbands, partners, or sons,
those who endured stillbirths, miscarriages, infant loss,
those who raised disabled babies or babies with health disorders,
and those whose own health was changed in ways no one ever explained.

Your experiences matter. Your memories matter.
And they deserve a place to be held with care.

You are welcome to share your story here on the page if that feels right.
