Unesco Chair on Asia-Pacific Cultural Heritage, at KNUCH

Hello!

Korea National University of Heritage has been supporting research in the field of Asia-Pacific cultural heritage preservation and restoration since 2017.
We are delighted to announce that we will once again welcome outstanding researchers to join us this year.

A total of nine researchers (including PhD candidates who have completed their coursework or those with higher qualifications) are eligible to apply.
Participants will receive a research grant and have the opportunity to expand their academic network through webinars and participation in an online international forum. In addition, all research outputs will be published in a regular periodical (ISSN assigned).

In March 2017, KNUCH signed an agreement with UNESCO establishing a 「UNESCO Chair on Capacity–Building for the Preservation and Restoration of the Asia-Pacific Cultural Heritage」. Through this UNESCO Chair, KNUCH has carried out activities such as education, research, exchange of scholars and students, workshops, seminars, and developing publications for educational purposes in the heritage field.
Since 2020, KNUCH launched a research grant project on the preservation and restoration of the Asia-Pacific Cultural Heritage for domestic and foreign researchers under the framework of UNESCO Chair at KNUCH. It aims to expand and form an
international network of cultural-heritage related institutions and experts to foster education and research exchange.

Korea National University of Cultural Heritage(KNUCH) was opened in March 2000 by the Cultural Heritage Administration of the Republic of Korea. In March 2017, KNUCH signed an agreement
with UNESCO establishing a UNESCO Chair on “Capacity-Building for the Preservation and Restoration of the Asia-Pacific Cultural Heritage”. Through this UNESCO Chair, KNUCH have carried out activities such as education, research, exchange of scholars and students, workshops, seminars, and publishing research results for educational purposes in the heritage field.
In 2023, KNUCH aimed to expand international research network of cultural-heritage related institutions and experts to foster interdisciplinary research subjects related to Asia-Pacific heritage.
