We had a little picnic 🧺 last weekend to take part in The Big Lunch. Some beautiful conversations and new friendships were made on a tiny communal green space on the street. We spoke about finding ways to bring neighbours together to grow, eat and share food on empty green spaces within our neighbourhoods. Some wonderful ideas such as a community pizza oven, a book library for the kids, outdoor cinema and theatre for families, an upgrade to the local skate park (suggested by the kids! 🛹), food forests, herb gardens, sharing boxes on our gates, going on walks together to share best places to forage and sharing recipes… one of my favourites was learning new ways to jazz up some gin with local berries🍸🫐😆
The police knew about our picnic and popped into the hub to ask how it went 💙👮🏻♀️and one of our town councilors joined us for the picnic. What a great example of civic support for a brighter, kind, friendly and safe community together 🤝🌱🌍
