The psychological impacts of being surrounded by nature has proven to help with calming the individual, while also stimulating positive emotions. Although modern classrooms might not be designed to be "open-air", providing an escape and the inclusion of nature within these educational settings is very beneficial for students.

An open-air school in the Netherlands in 1957. At the beginning of the 20th century, a movement towards open-air schools took place in Europe with classes taught in nature, so that students would benefit physically and mentally from clean air and sunlight.

One particular thing that I have noticed with other tutoring companies is the exclusion or neglect of special needs students. Where classes are prepared for the neurotypical or able bodied person, which often leaves special needs students lacking real learning support.

Our free introductory lesson is all about understanding the student and what we can change to make personally targeted lessons. We put the time, effort and research into making education a great experience for everyone.

‘Understanding How We Learn: A Visual Guide’ by Yana Weinstein and Megan Sumeraki

I read this book in the first year of my education unit for university, and I found that a lot of the information inside is disregarded by teachers in classrooms; despite all of the research backing the effectiveness of these study skills. It goes through how re-reading content doesn’t necessarily help store information into your long-term memory, yet this is still the preferred studying method chosen by students and educators. The textbook also explores why teachers in classrooms often disregard these study strategies as a result of trusting their intuition over accurate and reliable research. Being aware of the harm that relying on intuition can cause, I shape my lessons to use research verified strategies and techniques in order to achieve the best results.

I would highly recommend this textbook for those who want to understand how the process of learning works, if you’re an educator or student, or if you simply want to know the most effective studying methods!
