St. Mary's HS made headlines with its commitment to Catholic education, featuring the CEDE Program!

"The school’s religious identity also is reflected in its adoption of “The Catholic Entrepreneurship and Design Experience,” a college-level course developed by the Catholic University of America that, according to CUA, “forms a Catholic imagination ordered toward the incarnation: the creation of things that are True, Good, and Beautiful.”

Located in Washington, D.C., The Catholic University of America is the national university of the Catholic Church, founded by the U.S. bishops and the pope, faithful to the teachings of Jesus Christ as handed on by the Church. Dedicated to advancing the dialogue between faith and reason, Catholic Un...

A virtuous business leader seeks the common good, not just profits.

This quote hangs in Maloney Hall on the campus of The Catholic University of America. It inspires students to think of themselves as positive participants in the lives of all, not just their own.

Feedback is a gift. Be thoughtful when giving and receiving.
Here are a few tips:

1. Be specific.
Your feedback should always focus on a particular aspect of your fellow student’s work. “I like that” does not mention anything in particular about what you’re reviewing. Focus on a specific part of what you’re reviewing.

Examples:
Abstract: “I like that.”
Specific: “This sentence was very honest and authentic, keep doing that.”

2. Make a compliment sandwich.
When you begin giving feedback, start and end with something positive. Your goal is always to leave someone with ways to improve and the confidence and motivation to make those improvements. A compliment sandwich is a great way to do that.

3. Treat correction like a gift.
If you see a place where someone has made a mistake or missed the prompt, make sure you say it. But say it with compassion, remembering the dignity of each human being. In that same way, holding back on opportunities to improve does a disservice to your fellow students. Don’t overwhelm them with every little mistake, but make sure you show them what you see. Correction is a gift; be sure to give it.

4. Make your feedback actionable.
Feedback always assumes that the person is going to do the work again but better. Give an action idea along with each piece of feedback so they can improve the next time.

Examples:
Not actionable: “This part didn’t make sense.”
Actionable: “This part didn’t seem related to the earlier section, maybe you can add a few sentences to clarify.”
