Dear darling,
You are about to make a shift from cozy school to rude college. I have been there, and I know it sucks. So I wanted to share few things. The school has its share of bullies and creeps, but trust me, college is another beast. People will be more judgemental, more fake, more rude, and more jealous. No teacher would hold your hand and guide you through. So, dig it in, you are on your own.
School almost levels things up, but now the money will stare at your face. There will be people with better clothes, better watch, better bags, better mobile, and every materialistic thing better. And to be honest, it will hit you in the gut, at first. But sweetheart, please never feel inferior. The brain is yours. The personality is yours. The words are yours. And the aura is yours. Money shines, yes, but beauty glitters more than gold.
And about beauty, well, I know how you look will matter more now. But don't be their beautiful. They know trends in magazines, but they don't know s**t about real beauty. Beauty is how you are, and how you feel. And I don't want you to change a thing to fit into their beauty bracket. Don't wear something, short or long, to become their "cool", their "hip". Don't smoke or drink, just because they want you to. Don't have a boyfriend, just because everyone has one. No, sweetheart, no, they will lay this honey trap. They will make you do stuff, in the name of "cool", and you would wrongly think that - hey it's me, my choice, but in reality, it's their choice, which they make for you. Look, sweetheart, I want your decisions and choices to be yours, alone. That's it.
Yes, I do want you to carry yourself with dignity. So, decide for yourself what clothes are best suited for a place and occasion. But then, you will always be someone's slut, no matter what you wear, drink, or do. So, don't give a damn about the loser club. Bunk classes and have fun, that's cool, but know your limits, and your limits, not my idea of them, your idea of limits. Make friends, but beware, go slow, trust less, and keep a distance, always. A nerdy simpleton "friend material" can harm you more than a hero type "date machine", so don't judge them by their appearance and "image". You never know what they really are, until you know them, with time. And don't let any guy trouble you, ever. Kick their butt, shout, scream, make a scene, complain, and just call me. You are not a doll in distress. You are a warrior in your kingdom. You are my sister, and you will never take any s**t from anyone. Promise me that.
And I won't say focus on studies, because then it's no college, but focus on your life and career goals, always. Keep your own life, happiness, and career above everyone and everything. I don't want you to destroy your peace for any friendship or relationship. And no matter what happens, I will always be there for you. I know you will have new friends, but trust me, no one can ever love you more than I do. No one can ever care for you more than I do. So, no matter what happens next, I will make sure that my little sister has only smile on her lips, always. Have fun, sweetheart. College is madness, yes, but that's how life is, mad. I love you. Make me proud.
Big hug. Love.
