Trekkers Alivo and Luceño blaze bronze over Golden Thunderbolts

Ivan Alivo and Gab Luceño of Cor Jesu College delivered a composed and courageous performance as they represented the Digos City Trekkers, securing the bronze medal in a tightly contested three-set match for secondary badminton boys doubles.

The Trekkers’ pair claimed the opening set 21–16 with disciplined rallies and solid court coverage. The opposing duo from the Davao de Oro Golden Thunderbolts answered back in the second set, narrowly escaping with a 22–20 win to level the match. With the pressure at its peak in the deciding set, Alivo and Luceño stayed calm and resilient, refusing to surrender momentum and sealing the victory at 22–20.

The hard-fought win underscored the pair’s mental toughness and teamwork, as the Digos City Trekkers outlasted the Golden Thunderbolts in one of the most thrilling encounters of the competition.

Caballero, Mamac smash their way to silver

Fatrickly O. Caballero and James Bond Mamac of Cor Jesu College powered their way to a silver medal in table tennis secondary boys doubles' event after a gripping clash with the Davao Oriental Sunrisers.

Coach Arlene Bacamante shared that in the deciding game, the duo leaned on sharp teamwork and explosive attacks to seize control.

Caballero ripped winners from the forehand side while Mamac steadied the rallies with smart receives and calm defense.

Locked at 7–7, they strung together four unanswered points, and remained nailed at 11-7 final game victory.

In a surprising twist beyond their podium finish, Caballero’s journey took an unexpected turn during the 2026 DavRAA Meet.

According to tournament managers and technical officials, silver medalists are typically ineligible to compete in the Palarong Pambansa but technical officials applied the official selection guidelines to give Caballero the chance to vie for a singles boys slot based on his past DavRAA performances.

Former coach Novem Isidor said, "seizing the opportunity, Caballero proved his merit and earned the right to compete at the prestigious national stage turning a silver finish into a golden opportunity for a Digos Trekkers smasher."
