As previously announced, we are launching our Virtual Trading Competition, which is open to all Aston University students with any kind of financial trading literacy/experience.

Participants will be divided into groups with a virtual fund of 50k (for each group) using Trading212 as our platform.

Biweekly, we will assess the progress, evaluate the positions taken and have workshops based on topics which can be empirically implemented by the groups contesting.

There will be 2 prizes to win:
1) For the best return generated across all groups.
2) For the best analytical explanation of the trading cycle and a careful explanation of future outlook.

We will also intermittently have guest speakers to join us on our biweekly society meetings to advise or hold a parallel discussion of the market, economy and trading.

You are all encouraged to join as it will develop your investment acumen.

For our last ATIS Event of the year we are arranging a Guest Speaker Event!

The Guest Speaker is an Analyst in Aviva Investors within the InfraCapital division. Aviva Investors is a well-known asset management company and Ms. Shreeya Paudel is an Aston Alumni who will share with us how she excelled the recruitment stages, about her role, how her division fits into the company and industry outlook.

This is a perfect opportunity for students who are busy applying for spring weeks, summer internships and industrial placement to learn from her experience as the recruitment process is almost the same everywhere.

The long await ends and we are all excited to announce our first event, ‘Welcome Event Meet Up’
this Friday, 6th of November at 6pm.
Wanna know what the meeting will cover?

Meet one of our Workshop Managers, Samuel Babalola

“My name is Samuel Babalola and I am final year BSc Economics and Management student and a new committee member of the ATIS society. I joined the committee to connect with like-minded motivated students focused on developing their understanding of finance, to accelerate my development in event planning and public speaking and to truly listen to wider perspectives on trading. I am pleased to be contributing as the Workshop Manager and as part of the team, I look forward to planning and executing the upcoming trading simulation sessions. Outside of studies, I binge watch lots of TV shows, my favourites are Game of Thrones, Breaking Bad and more recently Ozark. I am also a huge supporter of Liverpool FC fan and an early admirer of behavioural economics”
