Storytelling to Kindle Imagination and Instil Wisdom weekend on 26th & 27th April 2025. Stories are ‘the lungs of a culture’ which for all time and in every culture have always made meaning, deepened human understanding, and expanded insight into the human condition. Our time, more than ever, needs the recovery of the hearth and heart that can weave us together and offer a sanctuary, insight and humour through the power of storytelling.

Drama at the Heart - finding ease and joy in learning with Nell Smyth

November 23rd & 24th 2024 in Tuamgraney, Co Clare, Ireland

Journey into the myriad ways drama can bring memorable and enjoyable learning, as we discover together the infinite potential of how drama can unleash laughter, awe, and transformation. A developmental approach to drama with children ages seven to seventeen.
We will explore:
● a wide range of games to build a group, calm a group and get the blood flowing.
● through myth, story, poetry, and play, how to tap into richly expressive language and character.
● how to bring drama into any kind of lesson for review, and as an engine for further development, no matter the age or topic.
● how drama meets and strengthens a diverse range of learners and learning.
● how to create plays of any length for children.

No experience necessary - just a love of story, games, and playful exploration

Nell Smyth is a Steiner Waldorf teacher and trainer, and a codirector of SWIM Steiner CPD and Teacher Training, who has worked with children and adults from early years to teens and beyond. She is the author of numerous plays, and the books, The Breathing Circle, and Drama at the Heart. She has worked in America and Europe for over thirty five years.

In response to requests we will be running a on 23rd September 2023 for our Core Elements of Education course.

As well as being a taster day for the course, it is a good stand alone introduction to or just an enjoyable, informative day out as a treat to oneself.
Quality refreshments and lunch included.

Core Elements of Steiner Education is an introductory course suitable for anyone with an interest in Steiner Education, parents, teachers, support staff, school board and committee members, , individuals interested in becoming a Steiner teacher. It is also an opportunity for initiative groups who may want to train up their own teacher/s, as can also be taken as the 1st year of a part time .
