Today, Dnet organised a workshop titled “Advocacy Dialogue on Strengthening Legal protection Mechanism for Citizens on Digital Platforms” under the joint funding of the European Union (EU) and Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom (FNF Bangladesh) .
The workshop was attended by eminent lawyers and media representatives who are working tirelessly to bring about positive change in the society. The attendants discussed internet awareness, safety on the internet, free expression with responsibility, digital law, digital crime, online identity, spreading false and fake news and many more related topics. They gave various effective and practical suggestions to ensure free and safe environment in the digital world with the help of this project initiative.

‘Foster Responsible Digital Citizenship to Promote Freedom of Expression in Bangladesh Project’ is co-funded by the European Union and is jointly being implemented by Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom (FNF Bangladesh) and Dnet. The goal of this project is to help youths of this country to become a responsible digital citizen and express their opinion constructively. As a motion of this project, a debate competition on “Voice of Freedom” was arranged with the students of Jahangirnagar University on 16 March 2023.

In this debate competition, selected participants from different departments took part and competed in 4 teams consisting a total of 12 debaters. As spectators, more than 200 teachers and students from different departments were also present. To engage the audience there were attractive rewards that were delivered based on the result of a short quiz competition among the audience.
The debate competition was divided into two segments. The winner teams from the first round were selected as the finalist to compete with each other. The topic of the final round was “Social media brings more harm than good”.
The winners of the competition were: Md Sabbir Hossain, Jahanara Jaba and Farida Akter Farzana.

Today in a hotel in Baridhara, Dhaka, Dnet organised a seminar titled "Lesson Learnt Seminar on Fostering Responsible Digital Citizenship" under the joint funding of the European Union (EU) and Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom.
The success and learning aspects of the various capacity building, awareness and advisory initiatives taken under the 'Foster Responsible Digital Citizenship to Promote Freedom of Expression in Bangladesh' project and possible steps to be taken in the future were discussed at the seminar. University students, teachers, law enforcement officials, domestic and foreign development sector officials, lawyers, government officials and media workers were present at the seminar and talked about the various possibilities and obstacles in using digital media in Bangladesh and advised on bringing positive changes in the society by using online media responsibly.

As panelists, Ms. Mahbooba Panna Additional Secretary, HR of Bangladesh Parliament Secretary, Farid Hossain, Editor of UNB News and Dr. Sadik Hasan, Associate Professor of Department of Public Administration, University of Dhaka were present. Fani Farmaki from European Union Delegation to Bangladesh and Naira Nizam from Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom also addressed the seminar.

‘Foster Responsible Digital Citizenship to Promote Freedom of Expression in Bangladesh’ প্রকল্পের অংশ হিসেবে, ০২ মার্চ, ২০২৩ তারিখে Daffodil International University-র শিক্ষার্থীদের নিয়ে একটি ‘ভয়েস অফ ফ্রিডম’ শীর্ষক বিতর্ক প্রতিযোগিতার আয়োজন করা হয়।
এই প্রতিযোগীতায় প্রতিযোগী হিসেবে অংশ নিয়েছেন বিভিন্ন বিভাগ থেকে বাছাইকৃত ছয়টি দলে মোট ১৮ জন শিক্ষার্থী এবং দর্শক হিসেবে উপস্থিত ছিল বিভিন্ন বিভাগ থেকে শিক্ষকসহ প্রায় ১৫০ জনের অধিক শিক্ষার্থী। দর্শকদের জন্যও সেশনে রাখা হয় আকর্ষণীয় কুইজ প্রতিযোগিতার আয়োজন।
প্রতিযোগিতায় দুই ধাপে বিতর্কের আয়োজন করা হয়। প্রথম ধাপে সর্বোচ্চ স্কোরপ্রাপ্ত দুই দলের মাঝে চূড়ান্ত পর্বের বিতর্ক অনুষ্ঠিত হয়। চূড়ান্ত পর্বের বিষয় ছিলো- ‘সামাজিক যোগাযোগ মাধ্যম আমাদের ভালোর চেয়ে ক্ষতিই বেশি করে।’ প্রতিযোগিতায় তাদের অসাধারণ বাগ্মিতায় বিজয়ী হয়: খান মো: ওমর ফারুক, সূর্য ভৌমিক, মো: ফাহিম শাকিল।
