CCL hosted the January Practice Lab this past Saturday. Our Exploratory students heard from Professor Norman on Real Estate. He showed the students different kinds of urban planning projects, from the creation of public spaces to replace highways, to the analysis of a house’s gaps to see how to make it more efficient, exploring how urban planners work together with architects and clients to design building and spaces that work best for the people using them. Our Immersive students heard from Professor Kelley on Sports Business. He spoke to our students about success factors and opportunities for aspiring future sports professionals. The November Practice Lab featured Professor Iandoli from and Professor Zimmerman from through .
In the Exploratory session, Professor Iandoli talked to CCL students about her career in the music industry, which has landed her writing jobs for artists like Eve and Lil’ Kim and media outlets including Rolling Stone, Billboard, Teen Vogue, and Cosmopolitan. Students were tasked with deciding on a music artist to represent and designing a record label and tour for them.
In the Immersive session, Professor Zimmerman broke down game design to the students, prompting them to consider what actually makes a game a game and the mechanics that go into designing one. Students got to practice their design skills by modifying Tic-Tac-Toe.
