Hayabuchi Soke recently finished his annual trip to clubs in Poland. If you pay attention, there is good information just in his body movements. If you want to know more, come discuss with me.

See you in class.

It's been cold and snowy this past weekend, with temperatures down to -15 F (-26 C). When practicing in a dojo with tabi, we don't need to consider the difficult weather we may need to fight in (or even just survive).

There are many kinds of Japanese footwear used in the premodern era. Tabi, zori, and geta -- to name a few. Sometimes, there would be covers for toes that could be lined with fur and lacquered for waterproofing. Geta may be used to raise feet above the snow, water, and ice.

But there's also fukagutsu (深履)- deep boots and yukigetsu (深沓) - snow boots. Both made from woven straw.
