Later, she worked as a research associate for the Music Education Research Team at the Royal College of Music in London between 2006 and 2008 before undertaking her MPhil research and Doctoral research at Cambridge University. She completed her PhD in 2015 in the topic titled “The nature of one-to-one instrumental/vocal pedagogy in music conservatoire setting: Two cases from a UK conservatoire”. She is currently an educational consultant for an international school, a piano teacher and an independent music education researcher for an NGO. As a piano teacher with over 20 years of teaching experience working with students of all ages and abilities, Dr Christine Yau is known for her dedication and creative teaching methods, and guiding them as they strive and flourish as a musician and pianist. She loves sharing her passion for music and learning for others, and she is so grateful that she gets to do this privileged job every day. As someone who has worked incredibly hard to get to where she is today as a musician and pianist, she knows the importance of good piano teaching. Over the years of interdisciplinary training in classical music training, dalcroze eurhythmics, music educational research, psychology and counselling, she has taken everything that she has learned over the years from various teaching methods and academic knowledge, and integrated it into a unique approach that is creative, supportive and transformative.
