Dear faithful readers,
Welcome to our second issue of IF HUB 2023. We hope all readers have achieved the targeted milestones as we’re moving towards the final quarter of the year. The Islamic finance industry has noted several key developments in the past eight months in light of the framework introduced by the Unity Government led by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim. With the theme of ‘Reinvigorating Maqasid al-Shariah in the Islamic Economy: Reality and Challenges’, the In Person Column presents Professor Dr Aishath Muneeza, who investigates how better management and stronger governance within Islamic social finance institutions help realise al-Shariah and promote social welfare. Meanwhile, the INCEIF University Students & Alumni Column features Saajid Sabry, who highlights the need to adhere to and implement maqasid al-Shariah in fintech solutions. The Practitioner’s Insights Column by Dr Dr. Yussuf Adam Al-Badani Maiga covers a broader spectrum by looking into criticisms of the current practices of Islamic economics and proposed solutions to overcome the current shortcomings. On behalf of the editorial team and INCEIF University, we would like to congratulate Datuk Shaik Abdul Rasheed Abdul Ghaffour, the newly appointed Governor of Bank Negara Malaysia. Also, a warm welcome to all Adjunct Professors and Professors of Practice who recently joined our academic team to bolster its teaching and research capabilities. Finally, kudos to INCEIF teams who successfully embarked on different initiatives including events, training and action-based learning projects. , which was held in Singapore, marked another record achievement with the participation of over 200 participants from the ASEAN region.
Hope to see you again in the next issue with more extensive coverage, inshaAllah. Enjoy reading!
