If we have to narrow things down, we can say that Jeet Kune Do's grappling has elements of: Judo, Jiu Jitsu and Chin-na.

The main concept is, hit the opponent as you remove the barrier (pak sao), then bring him to the ground as a possible follow-up (in this instance - Osoto Gari).

It's 3 of you, and want to train together?
No problem! You can train simultaneously with this Jeet Kune Do drill!

Practioner 1: Holds the pad, but doesn't have to be completely passive. He observes his partners' flaws, and tries to use them to his advantage on his turn to intercept, and avoid them on his turn to strike.

Practioner 2: Strikes the pad, and tries to avoid all preparation if possible, and to not telegraph or - even worse - chamber his punch before striking.
On a higher level, he can disguise his punches through constant subtle body (mostly hands) movement

Practioner 3: Fires a finger-jab, each time he sees the puncher striking.
MUST HAVE A SAFE DISTANCE
Tries to be quick, and to find cues for possible preparation and telegraph of the opponent's punches.

The funny thing with many of these Jeet Kune Do interception drills, is that the drill actually becomes harder the more you train, because both parties improve at the same time, so you need to always improve your awareness, technique, finess, subtlety, speed and timing.

Many times a debate about Bruce Lee’s psychological and philosophical approach to life becomes an argument about how good a fighter he was… to me those kind of arguments are a massive waste of time and of very little value due to their useless subjective nature.

Hypothetical musings over whether Bruce would have beaten Chuck Norris, or Joe Lewis are, in my opinion, missing the big picture, that is the mental methodology behind the man and not his ability to perform in MMA.

I think about Bruce as much more of a cognitive genius than a combat genius… his ideas and principles being so undeniably radical and revolutionary.

So whilst the physical skills and attributes are great… the psycho-philosophical skills and attributes are simply stunning… and to focus on his amazing mindset, I believe, brings much more value to our life than focusing on his physical abilities.

Remember, his physical attributes are beyond 99% of us, his psychological skills are not… we can all develop his fighting spirit, his creativity and his quest for wisdom and intelligence.

Η γνώση σου χαρίζει δύναμη, αλλά ο χαρακτήρας σεβασμό.

Να είσαι ευτυχισμένος αλλά ποτέ ικανοποιημένος.

Κράτα ό,τι είναι χρήσιμο, πέταξε ό,τι είναι άχρηστο και πρόσθεσε ό,τι είναι προσωπικά δικό σου.

Το να γνωρίζεις τον εαυτό σου σημαίνει να μελετάς τον εαυτό σου όταν αντιμετωπίζεις έναν άλλο άνθρωπο.

Ένας στόχος δεν σημαίνει απαραίτητα ότι πρέπει να τον πετυχαίνουμε πάντα. Συχνά χρησιμεύει απλά στο να έχουμε κάτι να επιδιώκουμε.

Μην εύχεσαι να έχεις μια εύκολη ζωή. Να εύχεσαι να έχεις τη δύναμη να αντέξεις μια δύσκολη ζωή.

Κάθε είδους γνώση στο τέλος οδηγεί στην αυτογνωσία.

Να ακολουθείς τους κανόνες χωρίς να περιορίζεσαι από αυτούς.

Το μεγαλύτερο σφάλμα είναι να πρ
οβλέπεις την έκβαση ενός αγώνα. Όμως, στη διάρκεια ενός αγώνα, δεν πρέπει ποτέ να σκέφτεσαι αν στο τέλος θα είσαι νικητής ή νικημένος.

Αν αγαπάς τη ζωή μη σπαταλάς το χρόνο, γιατί ο χρόνος είναι αυτό από το οποίο είναι φτιαγμένη η ζωή.

Ένας οξύθυμος χαρακτήρας θα σε κάνει να φανείς γελοίος αργά ή γρήγορα.

Δεν φοβάμαι αυτόν που έχει εξασκηθεί σε 10000 κλωτσιές μια φορά, αλλά αυτόν που έχει εξασκηθεί σε μια κλωτσιά 10000 φορές.

Στο βιβλίο του, "Championship Fighting: Explosive Punching and Aggressive Defense", o Jack Dempsey - ένας από τους πυγμάχους που επηρέασαν ιδιαιτέρως τον Bruce Lee - εξηγεί γλαφυρά, πόσο σημαντική είναι η χρήση όλου του σώματος για εκρηκτικές γροθιές.

Το ίδιο σκεπτικό έχει το Jeet Kune Do, και αν θέλεις να μάθεις τα μυστικά του, μπορείς να επικοινωνήσεις μαζί μου 😉
