'In a world where you can be anything, be... KIND'

Can you BELIEVE that this mural was made by 10 and 11 year old children?!

This piece was a true delight to create. The children were such fun and absolute naturals with spray paint!

A piece that shows how caring and inclusive this school community truly is.

All in (two) days work with Palette and Plum!

GOING GAGA FOR GRAFFITI!

This project has been an immensely fun one!

Palette and Plum have worked alongside a Year 6 class to transform a tired looking outdoor space.

The children were all entrusted with spray paint cans, and with it, they created an absolute masterpiece.

Hesitating over giving children 'risky' resources?

Thinking the tidy up will be far more challenging than the actual activity?

At Palette and Plum, risky resources are used often. With the right planning and preparation, they can be used to great effect.

Not only can children create works of art, they also feel an immense pride at having been entrusted with a resource that is challenging!

What's in your head?

This piece is a great conversation starter with children. Not only are they creating their own self-portrait, they are also experimenting with inks and delving into their emotions.

A great deal of the work that pupils create with me is deeply personal, and therefore unsuitable to share online, but here is the beginning of a piece. Look at those colours!

HOW CAN PALETTE AND PLUM HELP ME?

Palette and Plum is a creative company designed to support primary school aged children through art workshops, 1:1 art play sessions, staff training, display curation and much more.

Just take a look at all of the services below:

Workshops -
If you work with children, and are looking to educate them on a specific artistic skill, then look no further! Workshops can be one day, or several, and can work in line with your curriculum. Planning is bespoke, as are the resources.

Art Play -
A 1:1 workshop with a child, using art as a tool for expression. The child may have an SEND, SEMH or another identified need. This is the most popular service and sessions are conducted weekly. It can be a great way for a school to support a child’s ECHP, or an excellent use of Pupil Premium funding.

Murals -
Palette and Plum can work alongside your education setting to create large scale murals, both indoors and outdoors. This can be created by myself, or alongside pupils.

Display Package -
A display package includes an initial consultation; personalised planning based around your school's curriculum and needs, as well as all resources needed. Palette and Plum then conducts small group or whole class workshops with as many classes as you would like; and displays the work created at the end of it all!

Wellbeing Package -
Reward teachers with time. Take some of the pressure off by removing the planning, resourcing and delivery of a whole art module. A wellbeing package includes bespoke workshops for every class teacher in your school; initial consultations to tailor each workshop to your class' needs; valuable CPD through observation, topped off with a hamper full of teacher goodies with each workshop!

Staff Meetings/Training -
Delve into a specific art form and see how skills can be developed from reception age, all the way up to year 6.

Surprise Staff Meeting -
Designed with the final half term in summer in mind, surprise staff with a ‘change of plan’ in the staff meeting. Relax and unwind with drinks and nibbles, whilst creating a piece of art.

Year 6 Treat -
A full or half day of creative fun after the SATs. Children could tie-dye t-shirts, have a paint party, decorate tote bags, create a mural or even throw darts at paint filled balloons!

Let the school shine!

A little poem, to tie all of the imagery of the school hall display together.

❤️

In halls of learning, where wisdom’s light does gleam,
A school, like the sun, a radiant, guiding beam.
It pours forth knowledge, a warm and steady glow,
Helping young minds to flourish, to learn, and to grow.
And students, like flowers, with petals soft and new,
Absorb the light, in shades of every hue.
They stretch towards the warmth, their spirits open wide,
As curiosity blossoms, deep down inside.
Then, respect, resilience, and relationships, so true,
Are the life-giving water, nourishing all they do.
Respect for each other, a gentle, steady flow,
Resilience to bend, when the strong winds blow.
And relationships, like roots, that intertwine and bind,
A network of support, for every heart and mind.
With sun and water, the garden thrives and grows,
A vibrant tapestry, as each young spirit shows.
So let the school shine, and the water freely pour,
For in this fertile ground, bright futures will explore.

Here it is!

This school hall is looking bright, colourful and FUN!

Check out the before and afters, to see the visual impact that these displays have had on the space.

Here are some of the ‘hidden’ impacts of this transformation:

- Children can engage with the mural, starting conversations on the schools values.

- The recognition board is organised so that pupils can stand out and shine!

- Boards are backed and bordered with material, meaning that they can stand the test of time. This removes extra work for staff and leads to FAR less waste, making it better for the environment!

Another day, another display!

This was a big one!

Recently, I was tasked with transforming a school hall!

The displays were in need of an update - something a little more permanent, which would reduce staff workload. The school also wished for me to create a mural, that detailed the school’s values and served as a permanent display for children’s work, that embodied these values.

This was a BIG job that required a lot of patience, perseverance, and spending time up ladders!

A sprinkle of magic…

Here it is, the displayed art!

A total transformation from a tired looking section of the school, into an area to be explored and admired.

It was very special to watch as the Year 4 children looked at the display and said ‘We made that!’
