As we close out another incredible year at Joe Foss High School, we want to take a moment to celebrate the resilience, growth, and accomplishments of our students and staff.
A huge congratulations to our 110 graduates! Your hard work, dedication, and perseverance have not gone unnoticed. Many of you overcame challenges that others may never fully see, balancing responsibilities, pushing through obstacles, and continuing forward even when the path was difficult. Some of you are the first in your families to graduate, creating new opportunities and changing the future for generations to come. We are incredibly proud of each and every one of you.
This year was filled with so many unforgettable moments. Our students participated in over a dozen career and college exploration field trips, opening doors to new possibilities and helping students envision futures they may not have seen for themselves before. We also enjoyed 5 enrichment day field trips, countless dress-up days, laughter-filled memories, and moments that brought our school community closer together.
And of course, this year was extra special as we celebrated the 30th anniversary of Joe Foss High School, honoring the history, impact, and people who have made our school such a meaningful place over the years.
Thank you to our students, staff, families, and community partners for making this year one to remember. We hope everyone has a safe, restful, and well-deserved summer! 💜

Free breakfast and lunch will be served Monday through Friday at six school locations across Sioux Falls:

+ Lunch will be served from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm
+ No paperwork or registration required
+ FREE to all children 1-18

Thank you to Joe Foss at Axtell Park for recognizing us at their 30th anniversary celebration! Over the years, we've been blessed to have Joe Foss students intern at Habitat in all areas of our organization. We love being able to share our mission with these students, encouraging them to explore their interests while making a difference in our community. Jean was honored with an award for her dedication, time, and meaningful impact with students at Joe Foss at Axtell Park Alternative High School. Her passion for helping kids build healthy habits (and confident smiles!) truly makes a difference every single day.

This special event, held at Axtell Park School, brought the community together to celebrate 30 years of Joe Foss with student stories, poetry, art, music, and more. We’re grateful to be part of a partnership that invests in students and their futures!

Our students had an amazing time, laughing at the talking birds 🦜, amazed by the bears 🐻, and measuring their wingspans 🦅. Feeding the goats was definitely a favorite as well! 🐐

Big news and even bigger pride for our school community! 🎉

We are excited to celebrate our very own teacher, Rise, for being recognized and awarded a STEM grant!

Rise Jongeling, a teacher at Axtell Park, was selected as one of just a handful of educators in the region to receive this honor—earning a $2,800 grant to bring even more hands-on, real-world science experiences into the classroom. (dakotanewsnow.com)
