ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਗਿਆਨੀ ਸਦਾ ਨਿਰਲੇਪ ॥ ਜੈਸੇ ਜਲ ਮਹਿ ਕਮਲ ਅਲੇਪ ॥

ਸਾਡੇ ਮਨ ਦਾ ਵਿਚਲਿਤ ਹੋਣਾ , ਇਛਾਵਾਂ ਪਿੱਛੇ ਭੱਜਣਾ , ਮਨ ਦਾ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਅਧੀਨ ਹੋਣ ਕਰਕੇ ਹੈ। ਮਨ ਚੇਤਨਾ ਦਾ ਜਾਗ੍ਰਿਤ ਸਵਰੂਪ ਹੈ , ਅਤੇ ਮਨ ਦੀਆਂ ਕਈ ਅਵਸਥਾਵਾਂ ਹੋ ਸਕਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ। ਇਹ ਜਾਗ੍ਰਿਤ ਸਵਰੂਪ ਮਾਇਆ ਯੁਕਤ ਹੀ ਹੈ , ਭਾਵ ਇਸਦੀ ਮਾਇਆ ਪਦਾਰਥ/ਕੁਆਂਟਮ ਫ਼ੀਲਡ ਨਾਲ ਪਰਸਪਰ ਕਿਰਿਆ ਕਰਕੇ ਹੀ ਇਹ ਜਾਗ੍ਰਿਤ ਅਵਸਥਾ ਵਿਚ ਹੈ। ਜੇਕਰ ਚੇਤਨਾ ਦੀ ਮਾਇਆ ਨਾਲ ਇਹ ਕਿਰਿਆ ਖ਼ਤਮ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ ਤਾਂ ਉਸ ਸਮੇਂ ਮਨ ਭੌਤਿਕ ਨਹੀਂ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ, ਇਸੇ ਨੂੰ "ਨਿਰਲੇਪ" ਹੋਣਾ ਕਿਹਾ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ। ਇਸ ਅਵਸਥਾ ਦੀ ਜਿੰਨੀ ਬਾਰੀਕੀ ਨਾਲ ਖੋਜ ਕੀਤੀ ਜਾਵੇ ਉਹ ਘੱਟ ਹੈ , ਕਿਓਂਕਿ ਇਹ ਕਿਸੇ ਯੋਜਨਾ ਤਹਿਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਲਿਆਂਦੀ ਜਾ ਸਕਦੀ। "ਕਿਵ ਸਚਿਆਰਾ ਹੋਈਐ ਕਿਵ ਕੂੜੈ ਤੁਟੈ ਪਾਲਿ ॥" ਰਾਹੀਂ ਗੁਰਬਾਣੀ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਇਹ ਸਵਾਲ ਸਾਡੇ ਸਾਹਮਣੇ ਰੱਖਦੀ ਹੈ। "ਨਿਰਪੇਲ " ਹੋਣ ਲਈ "ਸਚਿਆਰਾ" ਹੋਣਾ ਪਹਿਲੀ ਸ਼ਰਤ ਹੈ।

ਸਚਿਆਰਾ ਹੋਣ ਲਈ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਬਹੁਤ ਕੁੱਝ ਬਦਲਣਾ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ , ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਅਜੋਕਾ ਜੀਵਨ ਅਜਿਹੇ ਸੰਘਰਸ਼ਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਭਰਿਆ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ , ਜਿਥੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਹਉਮੈ , ਅਤੇ ਹੋਂਦ ਨੂੰ ਬਰਕਰਾਰ ਰੱਖਣ ਲਈ ਸਹੀ ਗਲਤ ਦੇ ਪੈਮਾਨੇ ਧਿਆਨ ਵਿਚ ਨਹੀਂ ਰੱਖੇ ਜਾਂਦੇ। ਹੁਕਮ ਉੱਤੇ ਨਾਮਾਤਰ ਭਰੋਸਾ, ਅਤੇ ਮਨਮੁਖਿ ਸਭ ਕੁੱਝ ਆਪਣੀ ਯੋਜਨਾਬੰਦੀ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਇੱਛਾ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ। "ਮਨਮੁਖਿ ਇਹੁ ਮਨੁ ਮੁਗਧੁ ਹੈ ਸੋਝੀ ਕਿਛੂ ਨ ਪਾਇ ॥" ਜਦਕਿ ਜੀਵਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਘਟਿਤ ਹਰ ਵਰਤਾਰੇ ਦੇ ਪਿੱਛੇ ਵਰਤਦੇ "ਹੁਕਮਿ" ਨੂੰ ਬੁੱਝਣਾ ਵੱਲ ਇਨਸਾਨ ਕਦੇ ਚਲਦਾ ਹੀ ਨਹੀਂ। ਜੋ ਵੀ ਘਟਿਤ ਹੋ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ "ਹੁਕਮਿ" ਅੰਦਰ ਹੈ ; ਅਤੇ "ਹੁਕਮਿ" ਮਨ ਅੰਦਰ ਹੈ ; ਤਾਂ ਇਸਦਾ ਭਾਵ , ਮਨ ਹੀ ਆਪਣੀ ਹਕੀਕਤ ਸਿਰਜ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ , ਜਿਸਨੂੰ ਇੱਕ "ਕੌਂਸਿਓਸ ਏਜੇਂਟ" ਦੀ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਅਸੀਂ ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਮਹਿਸੂਸ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਾਂ। ਇਥੇ ਧਿਆਨ ਰਹੇ ਕਿ ਹੁਣ "ਮਨ" ਕਿਸੇ ਇੱਕ ਇਨਸਾਨ ਦਾ ਮਨ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ, ਸਗੋਂ ਹੁਣ ਇਹ "ਇੱਕਮਨ" ਹੈ।
ਇੱਕਮਨ = ਇੱਕ ਹੀ ਰੂਹ = 1 = oneness = one conciousness

ਆਪੀਨ੍ਹ੍ਹੈ ਆਪੁ ਸਾਜਿਓ ਆਪੀਨ੍ਹ੍ਹੈ ਰਚਿਓ ਨਾਉ ॥
ਦੁਈ ਕੁਦਰਤਿ ਸਾਜੀਐ ਕਰਿ ਆਸਣੁ ਡਿਠੋ ਚਾਉ ॥

ਏਕੋ ਏਕੁ ਵਰਤੈ ਸਭੁ ਸੋਈ ॥
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਵਿਰਲਾ ਬੂਝੈ ਕੋਈ ॥

ਸਚਿਆਰਾ ਮਨ ਹੀ , ਅੰਤਰ ਧਿਆਨ ਟਿਕ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ , ਨਿਰਲੇਪ ਹੋ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ, ਇਸੇ ਟਿਕਾਅ ਨੂੰ ਹਾਸਿਲ ਕਰਕੇ ਹੀ , ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਕੰਪਨ ਮਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ। ਇੱਕ ਵਾਰ ਇਹ ਮਨ ਅਤੇ ਨਾਮ ਇੱਕ ਹੋ ਗਏ , ਤਾਂ ਮਨ ਹਮੇਸ਼ਾ ਲਈ ਮਾਇਆ ਤੋਂ ਮੁਕਤ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਇਹ ਜੋੜ ਜਿਵੇਂ ਇੱਕ ਵਾਰ ਟੁੱਟਦਾ ਹੈ , ਅਤੇ ਮੁੜ ਜੁੜਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ , ਉਸੇ ਤਰਾਂ "ਹੁਕਮਿ" ਅੰਦਰ ਇਹ ਇੱਕ ਵਾਰ ਜੁੜਦਾ ਹੈ , ਤਾਂ ਸੱਚਾ ਅਤੇ ਆਖ਼ਿਰੀ ਮਰਨ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

ਮਨ ਦੀ ਇਸ ਖੋਜ ਵਿਚ ਚਲਦਿਆਂ, ਜੀਵਨ ਨਾਟਕ ਨੂੰ ਪੇਖਨਾ, ਅਤੇ "ਇੱਕ" ਦੀ ਕੁਦਰਤ ਨੂੰ ਜਾਣਦਿਆਂ ਵਾਹ ਵਾਹ ਕਰਨਾ, ਇਹੀ ਮੇਰੇ ਲਈ ਹੁਕਮਿ ਬੁੱਝਣ ਵਰਗਾ ਹੈ।

They say emotions are merely chemicals released in the brain.

I find it limiting; this reduction of consciousness and its interaction with physical reality to such a narrow frame.

As a student of the mind, a seeker of the universal natural law (hukam), and a scientist working across materials, chemical, and biomedical sciences—particularly in understanding neurodegenerative disorders—I seek something deeper: truth.

In my experience, thought carries an energetic component, but in its raw form it is often randomly oriented, dissipative, and below the threshold required to induce meaningful physical change.

As a child, I struggled academically. I could not memorize, and textbook concepts often oversimplified and fragmented-felt hollow, disconnected, and incomplete. This stood in sharp contrast to what I observed in the analytical laboratory my father had built at home. A Bachelor of Science graduate from the early 1980s, he became a self-taught expert in agrochemicals, soil science, mineral analysis, water testing, pesticides, and fertilizers.

In his 50s, he took loans to expand his lab. Then COVID came-the business collapsed, and so did he.

Yet, in our early years, he trained me and my younger brother (who is no longer with us) in analytical thinking and laboratory practice. He would often remind us: knowledge is the only true property we possess.

I strive to walk that path.

After completing my PhD in nanoscience from Panjab University and a postdoctoral fellowship at the Polish Academy of Sciences (IChF, Warsaw), I feel fortunate to now serve at Akal University, Bathinda.

Today, I am saving to build laboratory infrastructure, writing early-career grants (ANRF, ICMR), and training students: not just in techniques, but in thinking.

In the coming decade, I envision a deeper goal: to move towards self-sustainability in energy, defence, food, and health—and above all, to cultivate truly free thinkers.

In the little time we are given in one life, all I can aspire to do is learn from the infinite field of conscious knowledge, and transmit it in forms that outlast systems of validation. No signature is eternal in physicality, except the overlap of the mind individial mind field.

Let us connect there, in oneness.

ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਖੋਜ ਨੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਰਾਸ਼ਟਰੀ ਅਤੇ ਅੰਤਰਰਾਸ਼ਟਰੀ ਪੱਧਰ ’ਤੇ ਬੇਸ਼ੁਮਾਰ ਇਨਾਮ ਦਿਵਾਏ ਹਨ, ਜੋ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਵਿਗਿਆਨਕ ਸਮਰਥਾ ਦਾ ਸਪਸ਼ਟ ਸਬੂਤ ਹਨ।

ਇਸ ਸਮੇਂ ਉਹ ਯਾਰਕ ਯੂਨੀਵਰਸਿਟੀ ਵਿੱਚ Bioprocessing and NanoEnzyme Formulation Facility (BANEFF) ਦੀ ਅਗਵਾਈ ਕਰ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ। ਇਸ ਯੂਨਿਟ ਨੇ ਹੁਣ ਤੱਕ 72 ਉੱਚ-ਕੁਸ਼ਲਤਾ ਵਾਲੇ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ (ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ 45 ਅੰਡਰਗ੍ਰੈਜੂਏਟ ਅਤੇ ਸਮਰ ਇੰਟਰਨਜ਼ ਸ਼ਾਮਲ ਹਨ) ਦੀ ਤਿਆਰੀ ਕਰਵਾਈ ਹੈ।

ਅੱਜ ਦੇ ਸਮੇਂ ਉਹ 4 PDFs, 2 Research Associates, 1 Research Assistant, 11 PhDs ਅਤੇ 2 MScs ਦੀ ਰਹਿਨੁਮਾਈ ਕਰ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ।

📍 ਭਾਰਤੀ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਦੇ ਇਕ ਛੋਟੇ ਪਿੰਡ ਵਿੱਚ ਜਨਮ ਲੈਂਦਿਆਂ, ਡਾ. ਬਰਾੜ ਦੀ ਵਿਗਿਆਨ ਵੱਲ ਰੁਚੀ ਛੋਟੀ ਉਮਰ ਤੋਂ ਹੀ ਸੀ। ਪੰਜਾਬ ਖੇਤੀਬਾੜੀ ਯੂਨੀਵਰਸਿਟੀ ਲੁਧਿਆਣੇ ਤੋਂ ਸ਼ੁਰੂਆਤ ਕਰਕੇ, ਉਹਨਾਂ, ‘Environmental Biotechnology’ ਵਿੱਚ ਪੀਐਚਡੀ ਕੀਤੀ।

🔬 ਵਿਗਿਆਨਕ ਯੋਗਦਾਨ: ਪ੍ਰਦੂਸ਼ਣ ਰਹਿਤ ਸਾਫ-ਜਲ, ਬਾਇਓਫਿਊਅਲ, ਤੇ ਸੁਰੱਖਿਅਤ ਮਿੱਟੀ

• Waste‑to‑Energy (ਕਚਰੇ ਤੋਂ ਊਰਜਾ): ਡਾ. ਬਰਾੜ ਨੇ ਜੈਵ-ਉਰਜਾ ਅਤੇ ਬਾਇਓਫਰਟਿਲਾਈਜ਼ਰ ਤੇ ਬਾਇਓਪੈਸਟਿਸਾਈਡ ਤਿਆਰ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਭਿੰਨ-ਭਿੰਨ ਬੈਕਟੀਰੀਆ ਅਤੇ ਫੰਗਾਈ ਦੀ ਖੋਜ ਕੀਤੀ ਜੋ ਕਿ ਉਦਯੋਗਿਕ ਤੇ ਖੇਤੀਬਾੜੀ ਦੇ ਕਚਰੇ ਨੂੰ ਲਾਭਕਾਰਕ ਸਮਗਰੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਬਦਲ ਦਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ ।
• ਪਾਣੀ ਦੀ ਸਫਾਈ: ਉਦਾਹਰਨ ਵੱਜੋਂ emerging contaminants – ਜਿਵੇਂ ਕਿ pharmaceuticals, BPA, microplastics, endocrine disruptors – ਨੇ ਚੁਣੌਤੀ ਪੈਦਾ ਕੀਤੀ ਸੀ। ਡਾ. ਬਰਾੜ ਦੀ ਟੀਮ ਨੇ enzyme oxidation ਅਤੇ immobilized enzymes ਵਰਗੀਆਂ ਤਕਨੀਕਾਂ ਵਿਕਸਿਤ ਕੀਤੀਆਂ, ਜਿਸ ਨਾਲ ਇਹ ਖਤਰਨਾਕ ਤੱਤ 80% ਤੱਕ ਘਟਾ ਦਿੱਤੇ ਗਏ।  
• ਕੱਚਮਲ-ਪ੍ਰਦੂਸ਼ਣ ਪ੍ਰਤੀ ਰਸਾਇਣਕ ਵਿਕਲਪ: ਫਸਲਾਂ ਦੀ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਲਈ ਪ੍ਰਤਿਕਾਰੀ ਜੈਵਿਕ ਵਿਕਲਪ ਵਿਕਸਤ ਕੀਤੇ ਜੋ ਪਰੰਪਰਾਗਤ ਕੇਮਿਕਲ pesticide ਤੋਂ ਸੁਰੱਖਿਅਤ ਹਨ।

ਡਾ. ਬਰਾੜ ਨੇ York University ਵਿੱਚ One WATER Institute ਦੀ ਡਾਇਰੈਕਟਰਸ਼ਿਪ ਸੰਭਾਲੀ , ਅਤੇ James & Joanne Love Chair in Environmental Engineering ਵਜੋਂ ਵਿਸ਼ੇਸ਼ ਸਨਮਾਨ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕੀਤਾ। ਉਹ European Academy of Sciences & Arts ਦੀ ਮੈਂਬਰ ਬਣੀਆਂ (2021), American Academy of Environmental Engineers ਅਤੇ ASCE ਵੱਲੋਂ ਵੀ ਖਾਸ ਇਨਾਮ ਮਿਲੇ।

Simran, a government school student from Meritorious School, Ludhiana, had a dream to enter one of the premium institutes in India for her higher studies.

I have always encouraged every student I came in contact with to aim as high as they can. I am delighted that she called and wrote to me to share her success. Read her story in her own words:-

"Hello everyone, I'm Simran, a future student of IISER Mohali. Today, I'm excited to share my journey of self-discovery and perseverance during my drop year.

My story began in class 11th at Meritorious School in Ludhiana, where I nurtured a dream to become an engineer. It was during our counseling sessions that I first learned about IISER, which sparked a new interest. As I prepared for JEE, my focus was solely on cracking it and my teachers support me alot. However, my first attempt yielded 89 percentile, prompting me to take a drop year.

In 2024, I began my preparation anew, driven by the goal to become an IITian. As I explored conceptual learning, I discovered a passion for understanding the world's phenomena. A friend's suggestion to explore other exams like IAT opened my eyes to alternative paths to success.

The JEE Main exam proved to be a turning point. Despite my best efforts, I didn't perform as well as I had hoped. Emotional breakdowns and social pressure took a toll, but my family's and friends' unwavering support helped me bounce back. I analyzed my weaknesses and realized that my strength – diving deep into topics – had left me with limited time for practice.

In my second attempt, I scored similarly, leaving me uncertain about pursuing JEE Advanced or focusing on IAT. I decided to prepare for both exams, determined to give myself a chance at both opportunities. The journey was intense, with only 7 days between the exams, but my loved ones' support kept me going.

The result? I cracked both JEE Advanced with a category rank of 5000 and IAT with a rank of 452. This journey taught me that I'm passionate about exploring different fields and getting to their core. IISER Mohali became my calling, and I'm thrilled to be here.

My key takeaway? Follow your interests, explore new horizons, and make decisions that align with your heart. Don't be afraid to take the road less traveled. A good friend once told me, 'Do what your inner soul says,' and I'm living proof that it works. Thank you!".
