This is the 7th form called Kasumi. It's where you go SURPRISE! a bunch and catch the sword at the handle in between the hands. It takes a lot of skill to do that consistently.
Plus this really tests your ability to read distance with the two kuritsukes (catches). Did you back up enough? Did you step forward enough in the cut and catch? Am I too far away where the tension between us is gone?

You need to train carefully on this one. Slow then fast, else you'll have lots of bad habits and probably an annoyed lower back.

At the very end of the jodo NA zone seminar, we're still practicing to the very end. I love kata 5. It has some unique moves and really tests your sense of distance and danger.

This was the very end of the 4 day seminar, and we had just done 24 Katas prior to this. Omg we were tired, but determined.
