Josh is joining us this summer as a Democracy & Governance Intern in Kosovo! 🏛️🌍

Josh is a Master’s student at the Clinton School of Public Service, building on a background in Political Science and History. Josh is interested in governance, foreign policy, and supporting meaningful change!

This summer in Kosovo, Josh will work with a local NGO and public policy organization that aims to shape the future through credible policy research in politics, law, and economics.

Madison is joining us this summer as a Human Rights & Gender Equity Intern in Kosovo! ✊🌍

As a Master of Public Service candidate at the University of Arkansas’ Clinton School of Public Service, Madison has a strong academic foundation in political science, philosophy, and psychology. Dedicated to locally led development and growing as a global citizen, Madison has chosen Isla for an immersive hands-on opportunity to do just that!

This summer in Kosovo, Madison will combine her passion for gender equity and her love of the arts to support local change. Madison will work with one of Isla’s partners that promotes human rights and multi-ethnic coexistence through dialogue and theatre!

Madeline is joining us this summer as a Gender Equity & Human Rights Intern in Kosovo! ✊🌎

Madeline is currently pursuing a dual Master’s in Public Service and Social Work at the University of Arkansas, focusing on violence prevention, gender equality, and forensic social work. Madeline has an impressive background in legislation and advocacy and is ready to both share with and learn from local professionals on the ground in Kosovo.

Over the next two months, Madeline will work with one of Isla’s partner NGOs and leaders on restorative justice, peace education, and youth development!

Sadie is joining us this summer as a Democracy & Governance Intern in Kosovo! 🏛️🌍

As a graduate student at the Clinton School of Public Service, Sadie brings an academic background in Criminology, International Studies, and Human Rights. Sadie chose Isla to fulfill her academic requirements, hoping to empower local communities and help combat the injustices that impact their safety and well-being.

This summer, Sadie will work with a local policy research center. Through this collaboration, Sadie will support security sector development and reform in Kosovo and the Western Balkans.

Jazmine is joining us in Kosovo this summer as a Gender Equity & Human Rights intern! ✊🌍

Jazmine is currently studying Anthropology at the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa, with a focus on Women, Gender & Sexuality Studies. Through her love for meeting new people, Jazmine joined Isla to combine her passion for human rights with her interest in exploring the systems that shape people’s lived experiences.

In Kosovo, Jazmine will work with one of our partner NGOs that has created a network of local women’s groups, resources, and experts, all aiming to advocate on behalf of women. Exploring topics of rule of law, health, and community engagement, Jazmine will lend a helping hand to important local projects!

Alic is with us in Kosovo as a Democracy & Governance intern! 🏛️🌍

Alic is a Master’s in Public Service student at the Clinton School at the University of Arkansas. To better understand how policy impacts people, Alic chose Kosovo to fulfill his school’s international public service project because it is one of the world’s youngest democracies.

This summer, Alic will work with an Isla partner organization focused on labor rights and advocacy. Working alongside local professionals, Alic will support initiatives that strengthen and promote active citizenship and citizen participation in the design, implementation and monitoring of public policies!

Parker is joining us this summer as an Environmental Sustainability intern in Kosovo! 🌿🌍

Parker is currently studying Environmental Engineering at Arizona State University’s Barrett Honors College. With a strong interest in conservation and environmental protection, he has experience in trail restoration, conservation volunteering, and environmental fieldwork.

In Kosovo, Parker will work with a local NGO focusing on forestry, rural development, environment and biomass for renewable energy. Through a combination of field work and research, Parker will support ongoing initiatives in sustainable development!

🇽🇰 Welcome, Hazel!

Hazel is joining Isla Kosovo this summer as a Human Rights & Gender Equity intern! ✊🌍

Hazel is currently pursuing their Master’s in Public Service at the Clinton School. With an academic background in Political Science and Economics, Hazel is dedicated to equity, advocacy, and creating community-centered change!

Hazel will work with two of Isla’s partners: an NGO founded by Kosovo’s first female President dedicated to improving and empowering women’s lives, as well as an NGO supporting community events and programming through their feminist café and community space. Through preparing dialogue facilitation for the Women, Peace, and Security initiative as well as grassroots advocacy for women’s health and well-being, Hazel is here to help make a difference!

We’re thrilled to have Hazel with us this summer! 💙

Michell is joining us in Kosovo this summer as an Animal Welfare & Veterinary Care Intern! 🐾🦋

Michell is a Biology student at Radford University with experience in both lab and field settings, including animal care, behavioral observation, and conservation research.

During her time in Kosovo, Michell will be interning with a local animal hospital. She will work alongside local veterinarians to support animal care, advocate for animal wellbeing, and engage in community education efforts!

Abby is joining Isla as a Youth & Education Development Intern in Kosovo! 📚✏️

Abby is a student at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where she studies Political Science and Statistics & Analytics and serves as a Carolina Diplomacy Fellow. With interests in development, peacebuilding, and human rights, she’s passionate about creating meaningful impact through community-focused work.

After first visiting the region through a study abroad program last year, Abby has returned to Kosovo this summer to work with one of Isla’s partner organizations focused on equitable education, youth development, and social change!
