We're proud to announce a new publication by our faculty members, Dr. Doruntinë Demiri and Dr. Mariel Leclere in the Oxford University Press journal Medical Law Review!

"Mothers Beyond Tradition: Legal and Psychological Dimensions of Single Motherhood Through Assisted Reproduction in Kosovo and the Western Balkans"

This article examines single women's rights to access IVF in the Western Balkans, with a focus on Kosovo. Despite a constitutional framework aligned with Western democratic standards, Kosovo has yet to regulate this issue. Drawing on both legal and psychological perspectives, the authors challenge conservative objections — showing they lack empirical support — and argue that Kosovo should expand access to IVF while ensuring donor-conceived children can learn about their biological origins at an appropriate age.

We are honored to announce Ylli Bajraktari, President & CEO of the Special Competitive Studies Project (SCSP), as the Keynote Speaker for RIT Kosovo’s New York Gala 2026!

A distinguished Albanian-American leader in national security, technology, and emerging innovation, Ylli has held senior roles across the U.S. national security community, including serving as Executive Director of the National Security Commission on Artificial Intelligence. Today, through SCSP, he continues to help shape important conversations around AI, technology, and the future of global competitiveness.

Ylli is also a longtime friend and supporter of RIT Kosovo. From previously joining us as a Commencement and Gala keynote speaker to supporting our growing collaboration with SCSP, he has consistently shared his expertise, leadership, and belief in the potential of Kosovo’s next generation.

We are especially proud to welcome him back as we come together under this year’s theme, “Power the Next Generation,” celebrating a shared commitment to education, opportunity, and the future of Kosovo’s young people.

We are happy to welcome Alessio Scarito to the faculty at RIT Kosovo.

Originally from Florence, Italy, Mr. Scarito has an academic background spanning literature, linguistics, education, and transformative learning. He holds a BA in Modern Literature from the University of Florence, an MS in Linguistics from Alma Mater Studiorum – University of Bologna, and an MA in Education and Innovation from Webster University in St. Louis, Missouri. He is currently pursuing a Doctor of Education in Transformative Learning in the Global Community, at Webster University.

Mr. Scarito began his teaching career in Italy, before moving to Tashkent, Uzbekistan, where he gained experience in multicultural and international educational settings. During his time there, his professional interests increasingly focused on leadership and innovation in education.

He currently lives and works in Pristina, Kosovo. In addition to his experience in education, Mr. Scarito has an extensive background in fine-dining restaurant management and has lived across different countries as part of an internationally mobile family. He has also been a musician and writer since his teenage years and continues to publish his work online.

Mr. Scarito will join RIT Kosovo as an Adjunct Faculty member and will teach World History. We are proud to welcome Alessio Scarito to the RIT Kosovo academic community.

After 16 years of dedicated service, we bid a heartfelt farewell to Ivana Stevanovic, Librarian at RIT Kosovo (A.U.K). Since joining the institution in 2010, Ivana played a pivotal role in building and strengthening the RIT Kosovo Library and supporting students, faculty, and staff with professionalism and care.

As Ivana begins a new chapter abroad, we thank her for her outstanding contributions and wish her continued success, health, and happiness.
