Last week, from 31 August - 4 September, we concluded the five-day Gender, Economics and Politics (GEP) Summer School, which we as the SHER Programme were proud to co-organize together with NDI Kosovo, Agjencia për Barazi Gjinore/ Zyra e Kryeministrit, and University “Haxhi Zeka” in Peja.

Bringing together 30 young people, the GEP Summer School created a space for meaningful dialogue, learning, and exchange around gender equality, policymaking, economic opportunities, and inclusive decision-making. The programme brought together diverse expertise from academia, public institutions, civil society, and policy, allowing participants to engage with experts, exchange perspectives, and turn discussions into concrete policy solutions.

We are grateful to all participants, speakers, facilitators, and partners who contributed to making this week a meaningful and inspiring experience.

On 1 – 2 September 2026, SHER supported the University of Applied Sciences in Ferizaj (UASF) in organizing a two-day workshop as part of the process of monitoring the implementation of the University’s Strategic Plan 2022–2026.

The workshop brought together UASF leadership and other staff directly involved in implementing the Strategic Plan, including the Rector, Vice Rectors, Deans, Vice Deans, and the Secretary General. Participants worked in five groups, each focusing on one of the plan's strategic objectives, to assess progress, discuss key achievements and challenges, and identify areas requiring further attention.

The event served as a data collection and consolidation exercise, enabling the UASF working group to bring together and review information on the implementation of the Strategic Plan.

On 29 July 2026, SHER organized a kickoff meeting with the Universiteti "Ukshin Hoti" Prizren to launch a new activity focused on improving the consistency and use of the University’s visual identity, branding materials, and institutional templates.

The meeting brought together the Rector, Prof. Assoc. Dr. Mentor Alishani, and members of the Working Group, including representatives of the Steering Council, Deans and the Secretary General. SHER is providing expert support.

Participants discussed the current use of official documents, templates and visual identity elements, as well as the need for a more consistent approach across the University. The process will also include a review of the University’s logo to assess whether refinements may be needed.

On 24 July 2026, the SHER Programme, in cooperation with the University “Haxhi Zeka” in Peja (UHZ), organized a workshop dedicated to the revision of the draft Statute of the University.

The workshop brought together key institutional stakeholders to engage and review the draft document and discuss the next steps in the reform process. The workshop included the presentation of the University’s current realities and future vision, a review of the draft Statute, and reviewing the expert recommendations aimed at strengthening the legal and governance framework of the institution. Through constructive dialogue and collaborative discussions the workshop contributed to a more effective, transparent, and accountable governance structure.

On 23 July 2026, SHER continued its support to the Universiteti “Fehmi Agani” në Gjakovë (UFAGJ) in the development of its Strategic Plan 2026–2030.

Building on the outcomes of the previous workshop, participants reviewed the agreed strategic direction and worked together to identify and assess potential risks that could affect the implementation of the Plan.

The workshop also included further work on the development of the Action Plan. Through group work and joint discussions, participants reviewed the proposed activities, examined their alignment with the strategic objectives and key performance indicators, and identified areas requiring further refinement.

On 15 July 2026, SHER supported a capacity-building workshop for administrative staff of the Universiteti i Prishtinës (UP), focused on the strategic application of AI.

In their opening remarks, Vice Rector of UP for Scientific Research, Prof. Dr. Avni Hajdari, and the SHER Thematic Coordinator, Mr. Nehat Dervishi, emphasized the importance of strengthening the capacities of the university's administrative staff. They noted that supporting administrative staff development contributes to the university's overall progress and is fully aligned with the University of Prishtina's Strategic Plan, which prioritizes institutional development and continuous improvement.

Facilitated by SHER expert Mr. Art Alishani, the workshop provided technical training on prompt writing and the use of tools such as ChatGPT and NotebookLM to improve productivity in administrative workflows. The group also participated in practical demonstrations and discussed solutions to the operational challenges they face in their daily work.

On 18–19 June, SHER supported the University “Kadri Zeka” in Gjilan (UKZ) in the revision of its Statute. A two-day workshop brought together university management, academic staff, and representatives of the SHER Programme to review the existing Statute and discuss amendments needed to support the University's further development.

The workshop was opened by the Rector of the UKZ, Prof. Assoc. Dr. Artan Dermaku, who expressed the importance of the revision process in ensuring that the statute reflects the University’s current needs and strategic priorities. While, Mr. Nehat Dervishi, Thematic Coordinator shared SHER’s commitment to supporting the University throughout the revision process.

Facilitated by SHER Expert, discussions focused on existing provisions, areas requiring revision, identified challenges, and proposed amendments to individual articles. The framework for these discussions was the comprehensive analysis prepared by the SHER international expert, which served as the basis for the workshop deliberations. The workshop concluded with a summary of key discussion points and follow-up steps for the continuation of the statute finalization process.

On 19 June 2026, SHER supported the Universiteti i Prishtinës (UP) in the official presentation of its Strategic Plan 2026–2030, following its approval by the UP Steering Board.

SHER contributed to the strategic planning process through expert support, workshops, and consultations with university management, academic and administrative staff, students, and other stakeholders. Through expert support, facilitated working group sessions, workshops, and consultations, SHER contributed to the development of a strategic document that reflects the University’s priorities, development needs, and vision for the coming years. The new strategy focuses on six key areas: academic excellence, student-centered learning, research and innovation, internationalization, governance and sustainability, and digital transformation.
