🩸Give blood. Save lives.🩸

🤝Together with the Blood Transfusion Centre in Prishtinë/Priština, today we organized another blood donation drive for staff at our Headquarters.

❤️Supporting blood donation is a long-standing commitment for our Mission, as the Centre receives urgent requests for blood every day – a reminder that one small act can make a life-saving difference.

👏Kudos to our colleagues for once again stepping forward, showing solidarity and helping those in need.

Pleased to support the Free Legal Aid Agency in organizing the conference “United for Access to Justice for All” marking the official launch of this year’s Free Legal Aid Week and bringing together key stakeholders to highlight the importance of accessible legal support for all. ⚖️

Free Legal Aid Week plays an important role in raising public awareness of rights and the mechanisms available to protect them. It promotes free legal aid services and best practices for improving access to justice, while strengthening co-operation between public institutions, civil society organizations, and international partners. It also helps ensure that information on free legal services reaches communities across Kosovo, contributing to stronger trust in justice institutions and a more inclusive, rights-based justice system.🤝

💬 Speaking on behalf of the OSCE Mission, Deputy Director of Human Rights and Communities Department, Ms. Tamar Khidasheli, said that legal aid is an essential tool for ensuring equality before the law, as it helps individuals understand their rights, navigate complex legal systems, and access fair and effective remedies, thereby underpinning the enjoyment of fundamental rights, including the right to a fair trial.

The OSCE Mission remains committed to supporting efforts that strengthen access to justice and ensure that everyone can effectively exercise their rights. ⚖️🤝

✨What does it take to turn representation into real impact?

This question was at the heart of the capacity-building camp of the 5th edition of the EmPOWER Local Women Politicians Programme, which brought together 25 newly elected women Municipal Assembly members and public servants from across Kosovo.

With open remarks by Deputy Head of Mission, Cornelia Taylor, the participants exchanged experiences, strengthened connections, and explored practical ways to influence local decision-making.

Discussions focused on responsive governance, gender-responsive policymaking and budgeting, and the challenges and opportunities facing women in politics. 🤝

🌐Building on the work of previous EmPOWER participants, the cohort also endorsed a Collective Statement committing to advance the recommendations developed in 2025 to further strengthen women's role in politics.

The programme provided an opportunity to engage directly with municipal leaders, media representatives, and public figures on political leadership, visibility, resilience, and cross-party co-operation.

👏We extend our sincere appreciation to Arta Gashi, Sevdi Dernjani, Arbnore Beqiraj Fera and Mimoza Koprani Muçaj for sharing their experiences and insights with participants.

Because meaningful representation is not only about having a seat at the table. It is about having the voice, influence, and support to shape the decisions that matter.

Helping law students understand how free legal aid works in practice ⚖️📚

Together with representatives of the Free Legal Aid Agency, we introduced a group of law students to the practical aspects of free legal aid, including eligibility criteria, the types of services provided, and the procedures implemented by the Agency.

Students gained insights into handling individual cases 📁, as well as the importance of ethics, confidentiality, and working sensitively with vulnerable groups and learned about opportunities to gain hands-on experience through apprenticeships, trainings, and practical work within the Faculty of Law's legal clinics and Free Legal Aid Agency🎓.

This activity builds on 's recent support to the Legal Clinic in developing guidelines for students handling individual cases under the mentorship of legal professionals and professors 👩‍⚖️👨‍⚖️.

OSCE Mission supports roundtable “From Criminal to Civil: Understanding the Transition” ⚖️

Today, we supported a roundtable discussion with key judicial stakeholders from across the Prizren region to explore a complex but highly important issue: the connection between criminal justice proceedings and civil legal remedies. 🏛️

Bringing together judges, prosecutors, Kosovo Police representatives, and victims’ advocates, the event created space for different parts of the justice system to exchange experiences. They noted that criminal cases are often closely linked with civil claims, particularly those involving compensation for damages, property disputes, ownership rights, and eviction procedures 🏠📁.

Participants reflected on practical challenges in their daily work, as well as opportunities to improve coordination between institutions. The exchange highlighted the importance of closer cooperation 🤝 to ensure that victims can effectively access compensation and legal remedies, and that justice is delivered in a more coherent, efficient, and consistent way across both criminal and civil proceedings.

The roundtable is an important step in strengthening professional dialogue among justice institutions in Prizren, reinforcing a shared commitment to victim-centred justice and improved system efficiency.
