🌟 Exciting News from the QATEK project! 🌟

Today marked the culmination of an incredible journey as we proudly presented the achievements of the QATEK project, a groundbreaking initiative co-funded by the Erasmus+ Programme of the European Union, aimed at enhancing the quality of teacher education in Kosovo. 🎓🌐

In the ex*****on of the QATEK project, coordinated by the University of Pristina, European partners, including the University of Tallinn, University of Ljubljana, and LUMSA University, played a pivotal role in supporting faculties of education in the University of Pristina, Mitrovica, Gjakova, and Gjilan. Together, this collaborative effort has not only met but exceeded expectations, creating a transformative impact on teacher education in the local context. 🌍✨

🏆 Some of the remarkable accomplishments shared at the conference include:
📌 Institutionalization of 3 policies and a comprehensive package for internal quality assurance mechanisms
📌 Development of over 4 strategic plans for institutional changes.
📌 Revision of more than 20 course syllabi
📌 Acquisition of over 250 books and modern technological equipment
📌 Implementation of two capacity building programs for over 40 staff members
📌 Publication of a monograph and the establishment of a magazine for teachers.
📌 Organization of 3 symposiums with key stakeholders focusing on quality teacher education.

We were honored to have the Minister of Education, Mrs. Arbërie Nagavci, endorse the project, highlighting its critical role in improving the quality of education across all aspects. The rector of UP, Prof.Dr. Qerim Qerimi, emphasized the multifaceted importance of the QATEK Project, particularly in developing internal quality mechanisms and fostering European quality assurance practices in teacher education.

Our heartfelt gratitude to Prof.Assoc.Dr. Blerim Saqipi, the coordinator of the QATEK project and the Dean of the Faculty of Education, for his unwavering commitment and leadership. Dean Saqipi highlighted the significant strides made in teacher education, acknowledging the challenges posed by rapid technological and social developments. The QATEK project, he emphasized, has equipped Faculties of Education to navigate these changes and propel the reform agenda forward.

Today, we celebrate not just the end of a project, but the beginning of a new era in teacher education. Together, we've laid the foundation for a future where teacher education is not just a process but a transformative experience.

Workshop on teacher educator policy held with local partner Universities!

QATEK project takes a leap forward in shaping the future of teacher education with a successful consultative workshop on the Teacher Educator Development Policy with local partner Universities.

Hosted by the Fakulteti i Edukimit / Faculty of Education- UP at the Universiteti i Prishtinës, this transformative initiative brought together local stakeholders to discuss and refine strategies for teacher educator professional development.

Building on the momentum from our previous workshop, the discussions were enriched by active participation of teacher educators from Faculties of Education at University of Prishtina, University of Mitrovica, and University of Gjilan.

This workshop marks a pivotal step towards a paradigm shift in quality teacher education by providing a foundational framework for teacher educator performance evaluation.

Workshop on teacher educator development policy was held!

Thrilled to share that QATEK project just wrapped up it's first consultative workshop for the Teacher Educator Development Policy.

This significant document is set to become the tool for the professional development of teacher educators. It represents a transformative initiative, encompassing needs assessment, the formulation of professional development strategies, and providing a foundational framework for performance evaluation—an instrumental paradigm shift for quality teacher education.

Our workshop saw active participation from European and local partners, enriching the discussions and enhancing the document’s scope.

The upcoming face-to-face workshop with local teacher educators will dive even deeper into the document, ensuring careful refinement to reflect context specifics.

Workshops with teacher educators and students were held

During 2-4 October, Università LUMSA team organized workshops with teacher educators and students from local universities in Kosovo with the purpose of investigating course review process and outcomes.

This project intervention will conclude with course and program review and implementation.

Closing of project coordination meeting in Tallinn University

Last week, QATEK project concluded another coordination meeting organized by Tallinn University during Sep 25-27.

The focus of the workshop was twofold: (i) finalizing ongoing deliverables and preparing for project closing event and (ii) addressing project reporting and project evaluation specifics.

The second day of managerial training and coordination meeting was held

On September 26th, QATEK - Quality Oriented Teacher Education in Kosovo project organized the second day of managerial training and coordination meeting chaired by Tallinn University. The workshop focused on concluding project activities & preparation for final reporting.

Symposium on “Implementing quality assurance instruments” was held

On May 29th, QATEK project organized the symposium on “Implementing quality assurance instruments” hosted by the University of Gjakova “Fehmi Agani”.

The purpose of the workshop was to share experiences among local universities with piloting and implementing the package of quality assurance instruments approved as part of quality assurance policy in partner initial teacher education institutions in Kosovo.

The workshop also served as a forum for discussing further needs for strengthening quality assurance, as well as monitoring and evaluation mechanisms in institutional practices.

Workshop on management and leadership of quality practices at program level was held in Rome

On May 15th and 16th, the QATEK project organized the workshop on management and leadership of quality practices at program level hosted by LUMSA University in Rome.

The purpose of the workshop was to plan the framework for program evaluation report to be produced by all local partners. The program evaluation report will focus on a number of dimensions, including (i) alignment of program objectives with national and EU competence frameworks, (ii) link between theoretical and practical TE, (iii) research quality and relevance, (iv) student practitioner research, and (v) program leadership practices.

The workshop also dedicated substantial time to discussing and addressing sustainability of QATEK project deliverables towards ensuring quality culture in ITE in Kosovo.

The two day workshop concluded with clear goals and targets for the remaining part of project implementation.

Symposium on “Designing and reviewing syllabi for quality teacher education” was held

On April 18, QATEK project organized the symposium on “Designing and reviewing syllabi for quality teacher education” hosted by the University of Gjilan “Kadri Zeka”

Academic staff from local partner universities actively participated in the symposium by elaborating on their experiences with course/syllabi review activity and identified future plans that will reflect change in initial teacher education.
