๐ŸŒŸ Access Program Summer Camp 2025 ๐ŸŒŸ

KETNET is proud to celebrate the success of the four-day Access Program Summer Camp 2025, held from August 23-26, funded by the U.S. Embassy Pristina, Kosovo. This vibrant camp brought together high school students from communities like Kamenica, Obiliq, Janjevo, and Zubin Potok as part of the two-year English Access Microscholarship Program.

Through engaging activities, students enhanced their English language skills, sharpened critical thinking, and developed teamwork and leadership abilities. Trust-building and creative tasks boosted communication, collaboration, and creativity, while problem-solving challenges strengthened resilience. U.S.-focused projects and dance workshops fostered cultural awareness, empowering students to connect across varied ethnic backgrounds.

Highlights included a bootcamp and first aid training with LMT American KFOR and a U.S. study opportunities presentation by the American Advising Center. Weโ€™re deeply grateful to W-FOS, our dedicated Access summer camp teachers, and Peace Corps Kosovo volunteers for their invaluable support.

Together, weโ€™re equipping Kosovan youth with skills and friendships for a brighter future! ๐ŸŽฅ Watch the video below to see the excitement in action!

๐Ÿ‚ Celebrating Thanksgiving at the Access Program! ๐Ÿฆƒ

This week, our students immersed themselves in the spirit of Thanksgiving, a cherished U.S. holiday. Through engaging readings, quizzes, and crosswords, they learned about its history and traditions. A special highlight was hearing firsthand from our Peace Corps volunteer, Paul, who shared his own Thanksgiving experiences. ๐ŸŒŽโค๏ธ

In a heartwarming activity, our students expressed their gratitude by writing what they're thankful for on colorful leaves and placing them on a treeโ€”a beautiful reminder of the importance of appreciation. ๐ŸŒณ๐Ÿ’–

To top it all off, we celebrated with a traditional Thanksgiving lunch, complete with turkey! ๐Ÿฅ˜โœจ

We're so proud of our students for embracing the spirit of this holiday and for sharing their gratitude with us. Happy Thanksgiving! ๐Ÿ๐Ÿฆƒ

๐ŸŒ Happy Earth Day! ๐ŸŒฟ

Our Access students were thrilled to be a part of the Earth Day celebration this year, from planning to implementation!

๐ŸŒฑ Our Access students formed small groups and were tasked with observing the yard of the Cultural House. After careful observation, they collaborated to create small projects focused on enhancing the environmental aesthetics of the Cultural House yard. Activities included planting flowers, coloring the benches, and more!

๐ŸŒป Today, we had the pleasure of witnessing their creativity and dedication as each group presented their projects. Through a fair vote, one project stood out as the most popular and was chosen for implementation.

๐Ÿ‘ We're proud to announce that, alongside our dedicated Access students and staff, we had the invaluable support of two Peace Corps volunteers Paul and Elena. Together, we made a positive impact on our environment and community!

๐ŸŒŸ Exploring Diversity and Building a Win-Win Mindset: A Recap of Access Program Activities ๐ŸŒŸ

In our recent sessions at the Access Program, our students embarked on a journey of self-discovery and growth, delving into topics ranging from diversity to the power of a Win-Win attitude. Here's a glimpse into the enriching experiences we shared:

Exploring Diversity:
One of the highlights of our sessions was a deep dive into the concept of diversity. Our students engaged in thought-provoking discussions, sharing their ideas on what diversity truly means. Together, we arrived at a profound realization: diversity encompasses much more than just race and gender. It permeates every aspect of our lives, shaping our perspectives, interactions, and experiences. The challenge, we concluded, lies in understanding how diversity impacts everyone, everywhere.

Embracing a Win-Win Attitude:
Continuing our exploration, we delved into the importance of adopting a Win-Win attitude in our interactions and endeavors. Through a hands-on activity of building houses of cards, our students learned firsthand the significance of cooperation and clear communication. As the activity concluded, we engaged in a reflective discussion, highlighting how applying this attitude ensures that everyone involved can emerge victorious.

Applying Lessons to Real-Life Conflicts:
Taking our learnings a step further, students were prompted to reflect on minor conflicts they may have experienced with siblings or others. By envisioning scenarios where a Win-Win approach could resolve such conflicts, they gained invaluable insights into conflict resolution and empathy.

Beginning with the End in Mind:
In another engaging activity, students were tasked with completing a puzzle within a time limit. Despite their efforts, none were able to finish on time. Through a post-activity discussion, students recognized the importance of having a clear vision or goal from the outsetโ€”illustrating the powerful lesson of beginning with the end in mind.

Special Guests:
Adding to our excitement, we had the privilege of hosting two American KFOR soldiers from LMT. Our students seized the opportunity to inquire about their experiences serving in Kosovo and gained valuable insights into the life of a soldier.

Looking ahead, we're thrilled to announce plans to expand our collaboration further. Stay tuned for more updates as we continue our journey of growth, learning, and mutual understanding.

๐ŸŒŸ Access Students Engage in Volunteer Work at Fusha Kosova Community Center ๐ŸŒŸ

Saturday was a day of meaningful engagement and learning for our Access students as they embarked on a journey to Fusha Kosova, home to The Ideas Partnership, a beacon of hope for underserved communities. With hearts brimming with enthusiasm and a desire to make a difference, our students eagerly organized activities for the kids at the center, fostering a spirit of joy, learning, and connection.

For two hours, amidst laughter and shared moments, our students and the children of the center came together to partake in a variety of engaging activities. From interactive games to creative arts and crafts projects, every moment was filled with boundless energy and a sense of camaraderie.
Equally significant was the impact on our students. Engaging in volunteer work provided them with a firsthand understanding of the power of giving back to the community. It was a chance for them to step out of their comfort zones, embrace empathy, and witness the profound difference they can make in the lives of others. Moreover, this experience served as a valuable lesson in teamwork, communication, and leadershipโ€”skills that are invaluable in both academic and real-world settings.

As educators, we couldn't be prouder of our students for their dedication, compassion, and willingness to make a positive impact. This experience not only enriched their lives but also planted the seeds for a lifelong commitment to volunteerism and social responsibility.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to The Ideas Partnership for opening their doors and allowing our students to be a part of their wonderful community.
Here's to many more moments of shared joy, learning, and growth!

๐ŸŒŸโœจ Celebrating Black History Month with Access Classes! โœจ๐ŸŒŸ

Access classes were filled with enriching activities and discussions, all centered around honoring Black History Month and fostering meaningful learning experiences. Here's a glimpse into what went down:

๐Ÿ”ฅ We kicked off with a lively warm-up activity to get those brains buzzing and energy flowing!

๐Ÿ” Students were introduced to the powerful DIVE tool, equipping them with valuable skills for deep analysis and understanding.

๐Ÿ“ฝ๏ธ Next, we delved into the inspiring story of Ruby Bridges through a captivating video clip, sparking a thought-provoking discussion among our bright minds.

๐Ÿ•ฐ๏ธ Our very own Peace Corps volunteer, Paul Rutter shared personal experiences from the era when schools were desegregated, offering unique insights and fostering empathy among students.

๐ŸŽ‰ But the excitement didn't stop there! Students were divided into groups and embarked on a thrilling competition. Armed with sets of word cards from a compelling text, they listened intently, racing to grab the words they heard. Congratulations to our winners โ€” each group received a well-deserved reward: a book to further ignite their passion for learning!

๐Ÿ—ฃ๏ธ Finally, each group had the opportunity to shine as they eloquently retold a paragraph from the story, showcasing their understanding and creativity.

Today was more than just a lesson โ€” it was a celebration of history, resilience, and the power of education to unite and inspire. Here's to many more enriching experiences as we continue to honor Black History Month throughout February and beyond! ๐Ÿ“š๐ŸŒ
