This month we explored The Great Gatsby, a novel that dazzles with Jazz Age beauty while revealing the heartbreak beneath the glitter. Before watching the movie, we toasted Gatsby-style to my 10 years in teaching.

Our first book pick was Pride and Prejudice, followed by a movie night. I'm so happy everyone got to appreciate the book more than the movie, don't get me wrong, the movie is spectacular.
Jane Austen's writing, witty banter, and humor are evident on every page. She lets us gradually get to know each character. Mr. Bennet carried this whole book; he really made us laugh. Some (well, one) was particularly enamored with Mr. Darcy🥰.
What I love most is how Pride and Prejudice isn’t just a romance — it’s an insightful reflection of early 19th-century society. Through her characters, Austen examines class, marriage, and the expectations placed on women, all while exposing human pride, prejudice, and folly with sharp humor.
All in all, we had such a good time reading, watching, and discussing Pride and Prejudice.

Last night we watched 🍂Mona Lisa Smile🍂 for our first movie club night. This film was my comfort watch back in my first year of high school, and since it was one of the few DVDs I owned, I must have watched it countless times. It inspired me to become a teacher and to connect with students on a deeper level. Watching it again with these amazing women felt beautifully full circle.
Next up: Pride and Prejudice — book first, then the movie! 📖🎬
