🎓 Day 2 of the AgriTour Capacity Building Week in Samoa 🇼🇸
The morning sessions at the National University of Samoa (), Ocean Campus explored the deep connection between gastronomy, tradition, and sustainable agritourism — bringing European expertise to Pacific students and educators. 🌿✨
🍽️ “The Culture of Haute Cuisine”
Delivered by (IVI), this engaging lecture examined how gastronomy reflects cultural identity and creativity, and how the philosophy behind haute cuisine can inspire sustainable and community-based food experiences.
🌺 “Tradition, Innovation, and Local Impact”
A pre-recorded lecture by (UNICATT) took participants on a journey through European and global examples of how traditional practices can evolve through innovation — strengthening local economies and empowering rural communities.
👩🎓 50 students took part in the session, asking insightful questions and sharing their perspectives on how tourism and agriculture can work hand in hand for sustainable Pacific development.
☕ The morning concluded with a lively coffee break, where participants continued networking and exchanging ideas in the welcoming atmosphere of NUS.

Day 5 of Samoa’s hosting of the AgriTourism Capacity Building Programme began with courtesy meetings with NUS management and the Samoa Tourism Authority. Despite the heat, the team enjoyed exploring the agricultural side of the project, visiting Ifieleele Plantation, Sunshine Farm and Aleisa Coffee Plantation. 🇼🇸🌺

Day 3 of Samoa’s hosting of the AgriTourism Capacity Building Programme featured more engaging presentations, followed by a delicious taste of Samoan cuisine at the NUS Visions Restaurant a hands-on experience of our Tourism and Hospitality students’ practical work. The day wrapped up with visits to the RLSS Museum, the Botanical Garden and a hike up to the gravesite. 🇼🇸🌺

Day 4 of the EU AGRI-TOUR project in Fiji brought together inspiring presentations, academic exchange, and hands-on learning experiences that perfectly embodied the spirit of agritourism and sustainable development🌿🌺
✨ The morning sessions at FNU, Nasinu Campus opened with Presentation Session 2: Practices, Movements, and EU Initiatives, where three outstanding speakers shared their expertise:
• (IVI) highlighted Eco-Gastronomy in Action, showing how food, culture, and sustainability intertwine to create meaningful experiences for both communities and visitors🍲🌱
• (New Edu) presented on the best practices of EU projects in food systems and agritourism, connecting European innovation with Pacific opportunities🌍💡
• (UNICATT) shared insights from the Erasmus+ program on food, tourism, and the environment, offering a unique perspective on how academic institutions can support resilient rural economies📚🌾
☕ After engaging discussions and methodological feedback sessions, the focus turned to scientific research on agritourism empowerment in the Pacific, reflecting on the first day of in-field activities. These conversations provided valuable feedback for building sustainable strategies adapted to island contexts.
🚜 In the afternoon, the consortium planned to visit two local farms close to Nasinu Campus:
1️⃣ Sate Parsads Integrated Farm – showcasing vegetable production combined with poultry farming, an example of diversified and practical food systems🥬🐓
2️⃣ Pitas Fruit Orchard Farm – a vibrant orchard producing citrus, pearl guava, and dragon fruits, demonstrating the richness of Pacific crops and their potential for agritourism experiences🍊🍐🐉
🤝 This day was a celebration of collaboration, bridging EU expertise with Pacific realities, and turning shared visions into concrete practices that empower farmers, students, and communities alike.

✨ Today marked the first official meetings of the AgriTour consortium partners in Fiji as part of our Capacity Building programme – and what an inspiring start it was! 🌍🌱
➡️ We kicked off with a warm Welcome Session at the University of the South Pacific (). A big vinaka vakalevu 🙏 to USP for hosting us with such generosity at the International Office and Chancellery Board Room.
➡️ A productive meeting with the USP Senior Management Team followed, where we discussed how academic institutions can play a pivotal role in linking agriculture, tourism, and sustainability🌿🏝️
➡️ The highlight of the day was the Erasmus+ Project Creation & Implementation Session at the Japan Pacific ICT Lecture Theater. Special thanks to Dr. Igor Vitale () for his insightful lecture, packed with practical takeaways for both Pacific students and professors. His session sparked lively discussions and left everyone inspired to think differently about educational cooperation and agritourism 🎓💡
➡️ We were also honored to have a discussion with SPTO – the Pacific Tourism Organisation (). Strengthening collaboration between academia, local communities, and regional tourism stakeholders is essential for building sustainable futures for the Pacific 🐚🌊
This day was not just about meetings – it was about connecting people, building trust, and creating a shared vision for agritourism as a driver of cultural exchange, education, and sustainable development 🌺✨
