Today’s activities for the medical team:

We headed out to Greenhill Primary School for the morning! Our team was able to teach the students about proper hand washing techniques, how to brush their teeth, and the importance of a healthy diet.

After teaching, every student was checked in and evaluated by a nurse after receiving a deworming tablet. Over 80 students were seen this morning!

Thank you medical team and volunteers for an amazing outreach.

-FULLY FUNDED-

We want to extend a HUGE thank you to all of those who have donated towards our upcoming outreach to south Malekula. We are officially fully funded!!

Last Monday night, we hosted a fundraiser dinner in effort to raise funds. A special thank you to all of our friends from the community and International Christian Church for coming out to the FCC to support us! Generous hearts have made it possible for us to have all we need to head out at the end of September! Praise God for those of you who helped, and may you be blessed.

Friends and family! We are happy to announce our medical team will be heading out to the island of Malekula at the end of September. Since the cyclones in March, the communities surrounding the village of Malfakhal have not received any medical care. During this outreach, our team will be able to provide pop-up clinics in three different communities during our five days away!

But we need your help! Every donation will assist in covering fees for airfare, boat fare, and accommodations while we are on the island.

Please cover us in prayer, and click the link to our website to donate!

WHĀNAU TIME

Whānau is a Māori language word meaning extended family. Every Monday morning, we host Whānau time at the FCC. We invite other ministries to come and enjoy coffee, a bit of baking, games, and prayer.

Here are a few moments from this morning. Swipe to see the most precious photo ☺️

Mat time ministry is one of diligence and perseverance. Mat time occurs four times a week in four separate communities. During this time, the leaders guide discussions with the boys about the chosen topic such as identity or respect.
The leaders follow a basic four-week schedule with the boys. For the first two weeks, the topic is introduced and discussed. The next meeting is designed to review all the information covered in the past two weeks of discussion and cover any last-minute questions that may still be lingering. Finally, the last week is a planned fun night for each group of the boys such as a movie night or barbeque.
Our leaders are meeting every week to discuss future topics, pray over the ministry and brainstorm ideas for recreational events. Please join us in prayer over the young men being discipled by our team, wisdom for our leaders, and continuing reliance on God to guide the ministry.

While the medical compassion team was with us, we set up a pop-up clinic in the village of Rangorango for the day.

Beginning in the morning, stations were set up for triaging patients, wound care, eyeglasses assessment, health education, and patient consults.

Over the course of the day, more than 50 patients were able to receive treatment for their physical ailments! Even more, we were able to pray with patients and their families as they waited to be seen, during consults, or on their way home!

Thank you Pastor Josua for allowing us to come and serve the community of Rangorango.

It is with sad but grateful heart that we celebrate Dr. Carol’s last day at the FCC. Dr. Carol originally volunteered to help us pioneer the dental clinic only to stay on for another 4 years to faithfully serve our patients.
Her love, compassion and excellent care has left a mark on each of her patients.
We are incredibly grateful for Dr. Carol and all that she has done for our dental clinic.

If you are a dental professional and are interested in filling a critical need at our clinic, please contact us at [email protected].

We got to connect with Vinna and Korina before they headed to New Zealand for Vinna’s last surgery.
It has been such a joy for us to be part of Vinna’s journey over the years.

We are deeply grieved at the passing of our dear friend, mentor and teacher, Pastor Dave Wood.
He blessed many of out staff and students by opening his home and his heart to us. He was a man of integrity who genuinely wanted to know and love each person he encountered regardless of their nationality or background. Though we are grieving, we do not grieve without hope.

Thank you Pastor Dave for being a spiritual father to many of our team and for encouraging each of us to know and love God with our whole being. You will be greatly missed.

During this past weekend we were blessed to have Jamie and his son Finlay staying with us.
Jamie was here to do some crucial maintenance on our dental equipment in the clinic.

It has been a blessing to see how God has used past connections to bring in volunteers to fulfil specific needs.
We look forward to seeing God’s provision of future volunteers and staff for the Family Care Centre.

Join us in welcoming our new staff...

Pamela and Madeleine both graduated from their Discipleship Training School (DTS) here at the Family Care Centre last year. We are pleased that these two young women have answered God’s calling in their lives to join us in ministry.

Last night we hosted an evening of fellowship and worship with some of our local YWAM family. While many of us interact on a regular basis, it was nice to have a time to simply gather together and worship the Lord.

It was a bittersweet goodbye as we celebrated the end of Chelsea Geiger’s time at the Family Care Centre. She has served as the base coordinator and on the leadership team for the last 4 years. Her work has been a key part in pioneering the Family Care Centre. While we will miss her presence at the centre we are so excited for her to begin pioneering a new ministry called Impact Ministry Vanuatu!

Thank you everyone who has been praying for two of our nurses who have been trying to return to Vanuatu, they have made it into the country and will be able to leave quarantine in a little while. We are overjoyed that the Lord made a way for them to return!

Our amazing nurse Mel had been working incredibly hard to ensure that the clinic stays stocked with all the needed medicines and personal protective equipment. With added difficulty because of the lockdown and the increased number of patients that the clinic is serving, these supplies are hard to come by. We want to praise the Lord for providing the necessary personal protection equipment for FREE!

After almost 2 years of borders being shut, Vanuatu has, just this past week, had it’s first community outbreak.

Our incredible volunteer staff have gotten the clinic ready to see patients. With the main hospital being reserved for only COVID patients and emergency surgeries, our little clinic will be serving a huge section of our island.

Would you please be praying for our staff during this time.

Last night’s Mat Time was another incredible time where the men came together to drink tea and fellowship. They discussed the topic of violence and how it impacts their community. The guys were really engaged and thanked the staff, saying that they now understood more about this topic and how it was going to really help them in the future.

The Lord is really impacting men through Mat Time and it is amazing to see!
