Scientists in Indonesia discovered the oldest cave paintings

The age of one figure found in the cave is about 40 thousand years, and the other from 23 to 18 thousand.
Archaeologists from the University of Griffith (Australia) discovered unique drawings in one of the caves of Borneo in Indonesia. Scientists believe that these are the most ancient of the registered drawings of people, writes Fainaidea.

Researchers managed to find an abstract drawing of a bull, made with crimson paint - presumably the paint of a mulberry tree and several other small drawings of an orange hue.

According to preliminary data, the age of the bull’s image is about 40 thousand years, and for smaller cave paintings - from 23 to 18 thousand years.

It was previously believed that the most ancient cave paintings were discovered in modern Europe.

Game of the day: six-hour flight passenger simulator

Games Studio announced the game Airplane Mode - a life simulator of an air passenger who makes a transatlantic flight.

The game accurately reproduces all the ordeals that a person passes with a ticket to the economy class: from the registration queue to a six-hour chatter. You sit in a chair by the window, take off, dine, look around and try to entertain yourself. For this, movies of the 1930s, a smartphone, a newspaper with crosswords and a book were added to the game.

Each flight is different from the previous one: either the flight is delayed, then the plane falls into turbulence, then it does not catch Wi-Fi. With children, too, as lucky - they can be put near you.

"Apocalypse of insects" threatens life on Earth

According to a recent study, about 40% of all species of insects are endangered. Conservationists warn that this inconspicuous apocalypse has serious consequences for humanity and all life on Earth.

In the UK alone, 23 species of bees and wasps have disappeared over the past century, while the amount of pesticides used has nearly doubled in a quarter century. The number of butterflies has decreased by 46% since the mid-1970s. Scientists have noticed changes among other animals: for example, the number of spotted flycatchers that feed only on insects has fallen by 93% since 1967.

Zoodefenders argue that insects can still be saved if measures are taken in time. The author of the study is sure that we do not have time for long-term studies: “We cannot wait another 25 years before doing something, because then it will be too late.” His fears are confirmed by other studies that suggest the extinction of larger animals.

Wildlife circuses banned in Paris

The authorities of Paris forbade circuses that have numbers with wild animals in their program to perform in the city. The ban will come into force in 2020.

Circuses will not be able to rent city venues and give performances. The authorities are ready to financially support teams that want to remake their programs in accordance with the new rule - they will be given 50 thousand euros each.

There are only two exceptions: the Buuglione circus, which owns its own building, and Gruuss, which has already announced performances with elephants. But in the “Gruuss” they intend to abandon the rooms with animals over time - they have already stopped taking them from the natural environment.

Two years ago, a tigress escaped from a circus in southern Paris, who was eventually shot dead in the vicinity of the Eiffel Tower. The incident caused a stormy public reaction - polls showed that two-thirds of the French are against the use of wild animals in circuses.
