My daughter was working with a pre-K class and she asked me how I get them to listen. I shared with her a few of my tried and true methods and she texted me later that day excited because it worked! It kinda feels like I have to “act or entertain them” for them to pay attention. This can be exhausting if you are doing it all day but in reality, you only need to do it when y’all are doing whole group circle time. So maybe 3-4 times per day for about 15-20 minutes. It’s really not that bad when you think of it like that. So give it your all when you are reading the book, singing the songs, introducing a new concept, and reviewing basic concepts. Spread those things out throughout your day and you’ll have the energy to make it through and you'll have their attention. This approach is waaayyyyy easier than yelling, constantly redirecting, and dishing out threats and consequences. What are some of your favorite attention-getters? Comment below!

If you want a better behaved preschool or daycare classroom, be sure to label your table seating! You might be saying, the kids know where they sit it’s not a problem! Just trust me! It helps everyone when their spot is easy to find! Plus they start recognizing their name! Head to to get some already made name tags or let me know in the comments and I’ll send you my link! I made them on so if you enjoy creating, that’s another option! The point is, get them made, add the picture and write the kid’s name. Then laminate the cards or put them in a clear adhesive pocket for longer use!
