🌊 Our oceans are hotter than ever.

Sea surface temperatures hit record highs in 2024, making them one of the key drivers behind rising global temperatures.

➡ El Niño peaked in December 2023, causing extreme ocean warming in the first half of 2024.
➡ But even after El Niño ended, sea surface temperatures remained higher than ever in many regions.
➡ Record-breaking temperatures aren’t just because of El Niño - human-driven climate change has been steadily heating our oceans for decades. 🌡️
