PROFESSIONAL ACTIVITIES - ENGLISH DEPARTMENT
💫💫"English Speaking Contest" ✨✨

On March 21, 2025, the English Department of Phuoc Long High School organized the final round of the "English Speaking Contest" for 10th-grade students. This extracurricular activity aimed to create a beneficial exchange platform for students, focusing on developing their ability to use language in real-life situations.

Following a challenging qualifying round with the participation of 14 outstanding teams, the 6 most representative teams advanced to the final round to tackle 5 challenging topics: family, future career, artificial intelligence (AI), gender equality, and community development.

In the final round, the "English Speaking Contest" stage was not only a place for competition but also a platform for the young stars of Phuoc Long High School to shine brightly. The contestants transformed seemingly dry topics into inspiring stories, showcasing their English proficiency and sharp thinking skills.

After intense moments of deliberation, the judges selected the most deserving teams, and ultimately, the winners were:

* **Champion:** 10A5, who delivered a persuasive and impressive presentation.
* **Second Place:** 10A13 and 10A14, young talents who demonstrated their poise and confidence on stage.
* **Third Place:** 10A1, 10A9, and 10A10, teams that delivered creative and vibrant presentations.

The "English Speaking Contest" has concluded, but the echoes of emotional speeches and dramatic competitions will resonate in the hearts of Phuoc Long High School teachers and students. Deep gratitude is extended to the School Board, the esteemed teachers in the foreign language department, the dedicated homeroom teachers, and the teachers' youth union, all of whom joined hands to create a beneficial and meaningful playground, where dreams are given wings to soar.

HAPPY INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY

QUICK SUMMARY
In the early 1900s, in US and UK, women worked at home: care for families, worked on farms.
In 1900s, women started working in factories, however they got low pay and working conditions, worked long hours.
A trade unions were developing and protecting the rights for women.
The women joined the protests to get factory owners to hear or accept their demands.
In US, The Socialist Political Party formed a women's national committee.
In 1910, women's day became more popular, later this year, women went to International Conference of Socialist Women in Copenhagen in Denmark to suggest Women's become an international event.
Over 100 women 17 countries attended this conference.
1st Women's day is on March 8th 1911.
The women gained many rights and expanded the Day until today
In some countries, women have a day off, the men give them some small gifts such as flowers, wishes

TIPS TO MAKE A GOOD PRESENTATION
• Before the presentation
- Memorize the script of the presentation and take note what's important.
- If you scared of the people’ eyes -> just avoid it and moving the eye around not focus on only 1 point.
- Try to be more confident and if you get nervous -> drink some water + take a deep breath when thinking about the presentation.
• During the prestation
- Not only focus on the presentation but must look at the reaction of the audiences and make them stand up when they get distracted.
- Use the body language more effectively.
- Don't only speak too formal but make some jokes about it.
- Make them feel curious about the next slides.
• After the presentation
- Let them play some games like "choose the correct answer"
-> of course the questions are come from the presentation.
- And make them more impressed with some take-home messages.
