"SOME ROOTS RUN SO DEEP, EVEN HEAVEN CANNOT TAKE THEM FROM THE HEART"
It’s been a month, Papa – and a part of my heart will always be yours.
I’ve faced fears before — on my first day at school when you dropped me off, during airport goodbyes when I moved cities, and on my wedding day when your solemn hands gave me away. Every time, I was going away from you — my Papa, my friend, my safe space.
But this time, it’s different.
This time, you have left me — with only your memories to cherish forever.
I can’t express how much I will miss our daily calls, our evening walks, cooking for you, meals together, sneaky outings, choosing your clothes for a function, matching the perfect tie with your suit, or visiting your doctor to hear “All’s well!” I still feel as if you’ve just gone out to run some errands and will walk back in any moment saying, “Sniggy, I’m back.”
Your diligence and dedication in bringing me up has shaped who I am. You were always there — in every small crisis, like driving me at 7 am to the only open stationery shop because I had forgotten a school map, and in every milestone, like when I was being wheeled in to deliver your grandchildren.
You never lectured. You were gentle, loving, generous, and calm — like a safety blanket giving me warmth on a chilly wintry night. Your love for experiences taught me to relish every meal, savour every journey, and revel in every holiday.
Now, I am left with the heartache, the knots in my stomach, and the biggest void I have ever felt. But I carry you in every breath, Papa. A part of me will always walk with you, talk with you, and live for you.
Until we meet again, I will keep living in a way that makes you proud — because that’s how I’ll keep you alive in me.
I LOVE YOU TOO MUCH PAPA...YOU WENT AWAY TOO SOON
