🚀 COM HPC Hackathon 2026 - Competition Rules & Flow 🚀

Thinking of joining the COM HPC Hackathon 2026? Make sure you are familiar with the official competition rules and timeline below!

1. Eligibility | 01/07/2026
Students must attend the first 2 theoretical HPC sessions on 01/07/2026.
Hands-on assignment must be submitted at the end of the day.

2. Team Registration | 02/07/2026
Students register in teams at the end of the 3rd theoretical session on 02/07/2026.
Each team must have no more than 5 members.

3. Algorithm Round | 03/07/2026
Teams submit their Algorithm at the end of Session 4.
The competition jury will evaluate and announce the top 3 teams for the Presentation Round in Session 5 on 03/07/2026.

4. Presentation Round | 03/07/2026
The top 3 teams from the Algorithm Round will run and submit jobs on the HPC cluster to obtain results.
Teams prepare slides and present in Session 6 on 03/07/2026.
Each team has 20 minutes for presentation, followed by 10 minutes of Q&A with the jury.

🔍COM HPC Hackathon 2026 - Registration Open🔍

The Master’s Program in Computational Engineering (COM), Vietnamese-German University (VGU), is pleased to announce the COM HPC Hackathon 2026, a three-day intensive training and hands-on learning event designed for undergraduate students interested in computational science, engineering, and high-performance computing.

Participants will have the opportunity to explore the fundamentals of Unix/Linux systems, shell scripting, computing job management, and parallel programming with MPI and OpenMP, while gaining practical experience through HPC programming exercises and a team-based hackathon project.

• Instructor: Dr. Nguyen Xuan Thanh, Senior Lecturer in Materials Science, Faculty of Engineering, VGU

Target Participants
Undergraduate students in Computer Science, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Applied Mechanics, Aerospace Engineering, Automotive Engineering, and other related engineering disciplines.
📌 Prerequisite: Basic knowledge of Python is preferable.
