SỰ KHÁC NHAU GIỮA ALONE VÀ LONELY

“Alone” và “Lonely” là hai từ vựng rất quen thuộc mà chúng ta thường sử dụng khi giao tiếp tiếng Anh. Nhưng bạn có chắc bạn đã sử dụng chúng một cách chính xác chưa? Nếu chưa, hãy cùng mình phân biệt “Alone” và “Lonely” trong bài viết dưới đây nhé!

1. Alone
Alone /əˈləʊn/ vừa là 1 tính từ vừa là 1 trạng từ, diễn tả trạng thái một người hay một vật nào đó đang ở một mình, không có ai bên cạnh.
VD:
I plan to travel alone to Korea on Valentine’s day. (Tôi định du lịch một mình đến Hàn Quốc vào ngày Valentine.)
Do you live alone? (Bạn sống một mình à?)

2. Lonely
Lonely /ˈləʊnli/ là một tính từ diễn tả cảm giác cô đơn, cô độc và buồn chán.
VD:
She said she feels very lonely and depressed living in that big house. (Cô ấy cảm thấy rất cô đơn và buồn chán khi sống trong căn nhà lớn đó.)

Vậy alone và lonely có những điểm gì khác nhau?

3. Sự khác nhau giữa Alone và Lonely
- Alone diễn tả trạng thái trong khi lonely diễn tả cảm xúc.
Đôi khi bạn thích ở một mình (alone) chứ không bao giờ muốn trải qua cảm giác cô độc (lonely) đúng không nào?
VD:
I love travelling alone but I’ve never felt lonely so far. (Tôi thích đi du lịch 1 mình nhưng chưa bao giờ cảm thấy cô đơn.)
I don’t mind being alone because I never feels lonely. (Tôi không quan tâm đến việc ở một mình vì tôi chẳng bao giờ thấy cô đơn)

- Alone không bao giờ đứng trước danh từ, lonely có thể đứng trước một danh từ
VD:
ĐÚNG: She had a lonely childhood (Cô ấy có một tuổi thơ cô độc).
SAI: She had an alone childhood.

- Alone có thể được dùng như một trạng từ nhưng Lonely thì không
VD:
ĐÚNG: I prefer going to lunch alone (Tôi thích ăn trưa một mình).
SAI: I prefer going to lunch lonely.

QUÁ TRÌNH TỰ NHIÊN HỌC MỘT NGÔN NGỮ

Có bao giờ bạn suy nghĩ về một sự thật hiển nhiên: trước khi biết nói, tiếng mẹ đẻ cũng chính là ngoại ngữ, và vấn đề chỉ là chúng ta đã không dùng cái cách giúp mình giỏi tiếng Việt, để học tiếng Anh. Hãy thử nhìn lại trình tự một đứa trẻ thành thục tiếng mẹ đẻ của nó.
Bước 1- Nghe nhiều: Người lớn có thể biết hàng trăm thứ, nhưng luôn luôn thua trẻ con ở khả năng này. Mọi người xung quanh nói gì thì chúng cũng chỉ lắng nghe và im lặng, cười (đôi khi khóc). Bạn nhớ Antonio chứ? Ông ấy chia sẽ rằng để “bắt đầu” thành thục một ngoại ngữ, bạn cần luyện tập đủ ít nhất 800 giờ nghe ngoại ngữ đó. Nhưng nghe sao cho hiệu quả?
Bước 2 – Nói lắm: Khi một đứa trẻ mở miệng ra nói từ đầu tiên, “ppaaa pppbbaa” chẳng có ông bố nào lại quát ầm lên, “Sai rồi, Papa chứ con!” Ông bố ấy sẽ cười sung sướng, hoan hô ầm ĩ và phát âm lại từ “papa” vài lần, đứa bé cứ thế lặp đi lặp lại cho tới khi giống nhất có thể, và một khi đã biết nói, đứa bé nào cũng nói liên tục không ngớt.
Bước 3 & 4 - Tập đọc & viết hăng say: Hãy nhớ lại ngày bé, sau khi bạn đã nói thành thục, bạn sẽ đến trường và đọc Ê A bảng chữ cái, sau đó bắt đầu tập chép thật là chăm chỉ.
Đó là bốn bước học ngoại ngữ một cách tự nhiên: Nghe-Nói-Đọc-Viết hay Nghe nhiều - Nói lắm - Đọc viết hăng say. Nhưng hãy thử nhìn lại cách nhiều người học từ xưa tới nay. Đa phần là học để thi. Mà thi thì hầu hết là thi viết và đọc, có một chút nói và nghe nhưng hiếm lắm. Cách làm ngược này giải thích tại sao sau mười mấy năm học, khả năng ứng dụng vẫn vô cùng thấp. Họ có thể đạt điểm cao ở trường học, nhưng vẫn có thể không cao ở thực tế.
Tóm lại, tiếng Anh hay bất cứ ngoại ngữ nào cũng chỉ là một ngôn ngữ, và bản chất của việc thành thạo một ngôn ngữ chính là sự liên kết mạnh mẽ và trực tiếp giữa ngôn từ với ý tưởng cần truyền đạt. Mà tiếng Anh hay tiếng Việt thì cũng đều là ngôn ngữ, nếu bạn đã giỏi tiếng Việt, thì không thể có chuyện bạn không giỏi tiếng Anh. Vấn đề là phương pháp!

Học tiếng anh thông qua thực hành và phản xạ, dựa trên nền tảng đơn giản mà sâu sắc này, tôi tin rằng việc học tiếng Anh sẽ hiệu quả và thiết thực hơn nhiều. Vì nó có một mục tiêu rất rõ ràng: giúp nâng trình độ tiếng Anh của bạn và bạn có thể nói tiếng anh với sự tự tin sớm ngay thôi.
