For a child to be successful, parents and teachers need to work together to support their learning. A preschool progress report is a valuable tool for educators to track each child’s development in key areas and keep families informed and engaged in their child’s learning outcomes. It covers a child's progress in the main developmental areas of language and literacy, physical skills, social-emotional development, and cognitive skills. teachers keep a regular record on each child's development, providing parents with a detailed description of their work initiatives, interests and gains. Looking at the “whole child,” we focus on the following categories:
- Behaviour and social interaction
- Communication and language skills
- Work habits
- Perceptual and reasoning ability
- Motor skills – fine and gross
- Environment interaction
Monitoring these skills will help support children's growth into well-rounded individuals and successful learners.

The Infant/toddler class is a place where young children are encouraged to experience and explore their world in a safe, beautiful and ordered environment. The “work” of the toddler is the constant exploration of their expanding environment and the formation and emergence of their independence.
The classroom is carefully prepared in order to ensure the highest level of safety, allowing for freedom of movement, which will enhance both the cognitive and motor development of the child. The teacher, or guide is there to meet the child's needs and make sure the transition from home to school takes place with unconditional love and acceptance.

The Montessori materials introduce children to abstract concepts and critical thinking skills using concrete materials. All materials are high quality and ascetically pleasing to the eye. They are simple and neat. Each material in the Montessori classroom contains a “control of error,” the ability for the child to self-correct. This self-correction leads the child to concentrate on the dimension differences and compare the various pieces. A child learns to make his own decisions and, therefore, to know and comprehend his instincts effectively. He develops confidence and the ability to problem solve.
“…the function of the sensorial materials is not to present the child with new impressions (of size, shape, colour and so forth) but to bring order and system into the myriad impressions that he has already received and is still receiving.” - Dr. Maria Montessori

language teaching can be defined as an approach based on a full immersion in a language environment with self-corrective activities, fostering autonomy and the quintessence of problem-solving learning by developing the critical ability towards a foreign language.
The full application of Montessori’s principles enables a natural language learning among young students by fostering the use of communication in the target language, communication that will become more and more familiar thanks to the acquisition of new sounds.

learning has been designed to help students to understand their world in a more applicable and approachable way. Geography can be considered one of the most important conceptual lessons in the Montessori school. Primarily it helps children to place themselves on Earth, it also helps students to gain better spatial awareness, both for themselves in relation to the rest of the world and for where the continents are placed across the globe. Learning geography in Montessori way fosters a feeling of care for the rivers, forests, oceans, as well as feel more connected to people around the world. It creates the foundation for understanding the oneness of the human family, recognizing the basic needs that all people share while appreciating the diversity of how different cultures satisfy those same needs.

Choosing a environment for your child has many benefits. Known for individually paced learning and fostering independence, the Montessori Method also encourages empathy and builds a solid foundation for life-long learning. Through a well ordered, enriched, but simplified environment, the child's need for order and security is intensely satisfied. This is noticed in the calming effect the environment has on the child. Every material in a Montessori classroom supports an aspect of child development, creating a match between the child’s natural interests and the available activities. At any moment they can respond to the natural curiosities that exist in all humans.

"If we build our classrooms on simplicity, they are free to find our common soil. If we build our classrooms on patience, they are free to grow at their own pace. If we build our classrooms on compassion, they are free to wind together, climbing higher for the support we offer each other."

"Although the exercises are skilled-oriented in the sense that they involve washing a table or shinning one's shoes, their purpose is not to master these tasks for their own sake. It is rather to aid the inner construction of discipline, organization, independence, and self-esteem through concentration on a precise and completed cycle of activity." - Paula Polk Lillard, Montessori: A Modern Approach.

One of the main pillars of the Montessori philosophy is a connection with the natural world. 🌿
Dr. Montessori understood the important role of nature and outdoor play in a child’s healthy development and saw the outdoor environment as a natural extension of the classroom. Working outside allows children to explore with all their senses, fosters scientific inquiry, and inspires creativity.
"When the child goes out, it is the world itself that offers itself to him. Let us take the child out to show him real things instead of making objects which represent ideas and closing them in cupboards… Reality is studied in detail, then the whole is imagined. The detail is able to grow in the imagination, and so total knowledge is attained." - Dr. Maria Montessori

What does it mean to be a mindful parent?
According to the dictionary.com, mindfulness - is "the quality or state of being conscious or aware of something".
But how this can be applied to relationships between parents and their children?
Everyone of us can stop for a while in the middle of a busy day to declare, "I want to be conscious and aware of how I am parenting."
Mindful parenting means:
● When you're having a disagreement with your child, be aware of your own sentiments;
● Learning to take a breather before reacting angrily;
● Even if you disagree with a child's point of view, you should pay attention to it.
Observing ourselves and our children is an important aspect of Montessori, and we can often begin to understand the triggers and small episodes that start the process of when things get tense.We can occasionally take affirmative action BEFORE the problem becomes full-blown if we learn to discern the beginning of things. Analysis revealed that mindful parents engaged in more positive and less negative parenting behaviour, which was associated with greater positive conduct in their children—meaning less anxiety, despair, and acting out.
We can better focus on what our child needs and feel less overwhelmed if we take time to halt and relax ourselves.
“Follow the child, they will show you what they need to do, what they need to develop in themselves and what area they need to be challenged in. The aim of the children who persevere in their work with an object is certainly not to “learn”; they are drawn to it by the needs of their inner life, which must be recognised and developed by its means.” – Dr. Maria Montessori
Dr. Maria Montessori was always very attentive to the needs of children. Let us all try to mimic this characteristic today by being attentive of ourselves first and then mindful observers of our children. Let us be present (both mentally and emotionally) so that we can use Montessori principles with the children we love.
