FROM A SPARK OF PURPOSE AT 15 TO AN HONORS COLLEGE ACCEPTANCE IN THE U.S.
In 2019, learning about the extinction of Vietnam’s last Java rhino left a profound mark on Ánh Dương (Cadie). Her desire to protect the environment was far from a passing phase - it became the driving force behind a clear ambition: pursuing Biological Sciences on her path toward becoming a veterinarian.
At CIS, that ambition found its fuel in the IB Diploma Program - a journey Cadie compares to running a "21km race" demanding grit, discipline, and mental strength. Yet, she never ran alone. Hands-on guidance from our Counseling team, paired with a school community grounded in respect and active listening, gave Cadie the confidence to lead community initiatives and take full ownership of her learning journey.
Her perseverance paid off with an acceptance to the Honors College at Arizona State University (ASU). Cadie’s story shows that when students are placed in the right supportive environment, they find the courage to step outside their comfort zones and steadfastly pursue what they love.

Last week, the CIS library came alive as a vibrant book fair, held in collaboration with Phuong Nam Bookstore. The fair drew a large crowd of students, teachers, and parents, who came together to browse a wide range of titles, discover new favorites, and share their love of reading. More than a chance to explore new stories and ideas, the Book Fair encouraged curiosity, broadened perspectives, and nurtured a love of learning across the CIS community.
