MEET & SHARE GATHERING FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS - INTAKE 2026 💙

On the morning of September 26, 2026, our new international students enjoyed a warm and meaningful Meet & Share gathering at HCMUT.

This gathering was much more than just a rundown of essential university information, academic guidelines, and extracurriculars. It blossomed into a truly open, liberal space where students felt completely at ease sharing their everyday stories and the little surprises of settling into their new life in Vietnam.

🎓 The absolute highlight of the day was the practical advice shared by senior international student - Carmella Beatriz Biluan Nercua, Intake 2022. They opened up about their personal journeys of studying, living, and soaking in the local culture. Their pioneering insights and real-world experiences provided exactly the kind of encouragement our freshers need to confidently step into this new chapter.

🤝 Beyond sharing, the event was also a great opportunity for international students to connect and make friends with Vietnamese students, as well as discover student clubs and activities. Every question answered, every story shared, and every new friendship formed is a small step that makes the journey of our international students at HCMUT feel closer and more connected.

[RECAP] HAPPY MID-AUTUMN FESTIVAL, FOLKS🏮✨

Traditionally, on the 15th of the 8th month in the lunar calendar, Vietnamese people of all ages celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival ("Tết Trung Thu"). Children walk around with their well-lit lanterns. People watch lion dance and have tasty mooncakes together.

This year, our cozy group of international students were gathered to experience the authentic occassion like the Vietnamese.

We dove into the cultural stories behind Vietnamese poonah paper lantern with Đông Hồ painting, made and decorated our very own lanterns.

No Mid-Autumn Festival is complete without food! So we shared homemade mooncakes and chit chat about everyone's personal experience about Vietnam.

Such an unforgettable evening! A huge thank to everyone who made time to join us, brought such amazing energy, and made this cultural exchange so special.

VNUHCM ATTENDS THE VIETNAM - RUSSIA SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY FORUM

On September 9, 2026, in Moscow, the Vietnam National University - Ho Chi Minh City (VNUHCM) delegation attended the Viet Nam - Russia Science and Technology Forum themed “Connecting Strategic Technologies”.

Representing the VNUHCM delegation, Prof. Dr. Mai Thanh Phong, President of Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HCMUT) proposed moving beyond traditional academic exchange toward deeper collaboration in strategic technologies, with three key priorities:
(1) developing joint training programs
(2) building and nurturing a core pool of lecturers and experts
(3) exploring the establishment of a joint research and technology development center in Vietnam.

As Vietnam advances plans to develop a national quantum technology strategy and establish a Vietnam - Russia joint research center focusing on strategic technologies including quantum technology, nuclear technology, and artificial intelligence, HCMUT is well positioned to help develop the highly skilled workforce needed in these fields.

Related majors for international students include Computer Science (AI Specialization), Nuclear Engineering, and Electrical - Electronics Engineering (Power & Energy Systems). With quality education, internationally accredited degrees, and opportunities in joint R&D initiatives, students will be offered a strong foundation for careers in critical energy and technology sectors.

💻 What if the barrier to learning how to code is not a lack of ability, but a lack of accessible ways to interact with a computer?
That question is where Enable Code began.

For people with limited mobility, learning to code can become difficult before the lesson even starts, simply because most digital tools still depend heavily on a mouse and keyboard.

Enable Code offers an alternative way to interact. Learners can navigate the interface through facial movements and build programs using visual coding blocks. The platform also adapts to each learner through personalized controls, structured lessons, and progress tracking.

Our focus is built around three ideas: Alternative Interaction, giving learners another way to control the computer; Accessible Learning, making programming easier to approach; and Adaptive Experience, allowing the interaction to better fit individual needs.

But Enable Code is not meant to stop at coding. We hope the same approach can eventually support everyday digital activities such as browsing the web, using online tools, learning, and working with less dependence on traditional input devices.

For us, meaningful technology is not about adding more features. It is about removing barriers and giving more people the freedom to learn, create, and participate in the digital world.
Enable Code - instead of asking people to adapt to technology, we want technology to adapt to people.

MAKING CIRCULARITY WORK IN REAL WORLD

"At some point over the past three months, our research lab stopped looking like one. Plastic containers were everywhere. Bottles, cups, boxes, in different materials, colors, and shapes. URA Lab was slowly beginning to resemble a small plastic warehouse. Fortunately, everyone around us was remarkably tolerant."

Drawing on their understanding of Vietnam’s recycling landscape, team MonoMates set out to connect citizens, collection points, plastic classification, and recycling operators into one practical system while keeping the solution accessible to small and medium-sized recycling operators.

The journey at Bach Khoa Innovation 2026 earned them the Second Prize – U-I Dow Vietnam: Design for Circularity Challenge.

Bach Khoa Innovation 2026 marked a record of 408 projects from across Vietnam and more than 20 countries around the world. One of the biggest and most anticipated competitions organized annually by HCMUT has been moving beyond a domestic innovation platform to a regional STEM playground.

Over more than four months and across two competition rounds, 57 outstanding projects advanced to the Final Round. There were 9 international teams from Indonesia, the Philippines, Malaysia, India, Uganda, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Australia, and South Korea.

HCMUT-UTS Transnational Education Program is offered by Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HCMUT) and the University of Technology Sydney (UTS). It allows students to earn an Australian adegree directly awarded by UTS through a 3-year study duration in Vietnam.

Taught entirely in English by experienced faculty from both institutions, the program facilitates a world-class learning and research environment where students enjoy all the privileges of full UTS status, along with flexible opportunities to transfer to UTS Sydney after the first year.
