IELTS 24H
In certain countries, it is advocated that the young should take a gap year before pursuing their tertiary education. While it is believed to offer a few advantages, there are also disadvantages worth considering. This essay will grant us a chance to discuss both sides thoroughly. (Ha Nguyen)
On the bright side, there are two main benefits. First, through traveling, the young could expand their horizons. It is argued that they would have a closer accress to numberous cultures, customs, ect. Therefore, they can gain more profound understanding of the surrounding world. Besides, they can learn to appreciate the value of labor in particular and money in general. For example, once young people take a gap year to work part-time, they will realize the hardship involved in earning a living. Then, they will think thoroughly before purchasing anything they desire. To put it another way, they could become less impulsive in their spending. (Minh Nguyet)
On the dark side, various drawbacks in relation to/ as a consequence of taking a gap year may be noted. One significant concern is that they are more likely to suffer from a sense of depression. In fact, an array of people are too young to cope with certain practical work experience or unexpected situations. Not to mention, they are often under pressure to take care of themselves and stay safe from social evils without the protection or support from their parents. Another drawback is the reluctance to return to their academic studies. In excelling in the labor market at their young age, some enjoy making money and becoming financially independent so much that no longer are they interested in starting over their study again. Their future is negatively affected, as it is important to graduate with a degree so as to be competitive in current job markets. (Phuong Quynh)
In conclusion, taking a gap year can empower young people to gain invaluable experience and become financially independent. However, they may also feel depressed or become so interested in earning money that they quit their studies. Therefore, it is necessary to weigh the benefits against/ and drawbacks carefully prior to making a decision on whether they should take a gap year or not. (Ha Nguyen)

The two maps illustrate the layout of a small local museum and its surrounding area in the years 1957 and 2007. Overall, the museum underwent significant developments over the 50-year period, with the removal of some natural features to accommodate increased functionality and accessibility.
Trung Kien:
As can be seen from the maps, in 1957, the museum, which was surrounded with a large garden featured with a large number of trees, contained three specific rooms, namely a national history exhibition, a local history room and a museum store-room. Notably, entrance hall was accessed by/ via a curved path, connecting to the road. Five decades later, in 2007, the garden was reduced in size, with most of the trees being chopped down, to make room/ way for the construction of a car park as well as the expansion of the museum. In detail, the museum was equipped with such amenities as a reception, a café, an education center, a museum shop along with a local history room. It should also be noted that the entrance was moved, leading directly from the road to the museum shop.
All in all, the museum witnessed spectacular changes to become a more customer-friendly one, with the addition/ er****on/ building of new facilities to serve customers, regarding a café, a museum shop as well as a reception.
Some would see the application of death penalty as an indispensable deterrent of crimes, whereas others take issue with that point of view. Which standpoint are you in favor of? Write an academic essay to support your opinion.

Recently, there has been lively debate about/ over whether death penalty should be abolished. Some adherents/ supporters/ promonents of the abolition have a belief that death penalty violates the right to live, one of the basic human rights. However, others are of the opposite opinion that the enforcement of penalty death is essential to deter crimes. Personally, I gravitate toward the former standpoint. This essay will grant us a chance to elaborate upon the issue. (Hue Tam)
Supporters of the removal of death penalty are convinced that errors caused by humans have not been eliminated. In reality, a plethora of innocents have been wrongly executed. No matter how advanced a justice system is, human failures still occur. Unlike prison sentences, death penalty is irreversible or irreparable. (Thanh Vy)
Furthermore, it is widely acknowledged that death penalty scarcely/ barely/ hardly deters crimes as effectively as expected. As recently stated by the Supreme Court of Vietnam, “ there is no conclusive evidence regarding the deterrent value of capital punishment”. It should be noted that the effectiveness of death penalty in preventing crimes is being seriously questioned by an increasing number of experienced law enforcement professionals. (Trung Kien)
In conclusion, from my personal perspective/ point of view, the fact that the society used to support death sentences could have stemmed from the expectation of a crime-free society. Nevertheless, it is vital to bear in mind that there is always more than an effective approach for any issues. Thus, death penalty should be abolished and replaced by/ with another more efficient and humane method. (Hue Tam)

Given are the maps illustrating the overall development of Grange park in Arnold avenue staged in two different periods from 1920 to today. In general, the park has been changed and renovated to offer people more possibilities than they used to have decades ago such as a café, a theatre, and an underground parking space.
As can be seen from the maps, in 1920, the park was featured with entertainment facilities as regards a roofed stage for musicians, seats, a fountain, rose gardens and so on. Since then, there have been notable relocation in terms of seats. While the entrances and the rose garden in the northwest remain unchanged, the stage for musicians has been dismantled to make room for a much larger amphitheatre for concerts facing outdoors audience seats in the west. This change has necessitated the removal of both the seats as well as the rose garden in the northwest and southwest respectively. Moreover, the pond for water plants in the northeast has been levelled to make way for a children’s play area, along with the rose garden nearby being cleared to give way to the construction of a café.
Furthermore, it should be noted that the glasshouse in the southeast has been demolished and replaced with a water feature while the fountain in the center has been knocked down to make way for a rose garden together with new seats. Other noticeable development is that an entrance to an underground car park has been added to the southeast of Grange park.

Some people think that it is beneficial for students to go private schools, but others think that is has negative effect. Discuss both points of view and give your own opinion.

There is an inevitable fact that education plays a vital role in a well-rounded development of an individual. In this age, choosing a type of school that is suitable for students has become a thorny issue. While some hold the view that private schools are ideal academic environment for students to develop, others have an opposite view. It seems to me that studying at private schools brings both benefits and drawbacks to students, which will be elaborated upon in this essay.
On the dark side, there are several significant disadvantages to opting for studying at private schools. One major problem is very high school fees. Some cannot afford, or others are under much pressure. Besides, most private schools are paid-to-study schools in which students do not have to compete to have a seat. This leads to the lack of competition and the shortage of motivation, which has adverse effects on students’ academic results.
On the bright side, studying at those schools benefits students considerably in several ways. In the first place, such schools are believed to be well – furbished and equipped with modern facilities. Accordingly, students have chances to conduct practical experiments in modern labs and media rooms. Moreover, private schools are also assumed to provide students with international studying environments where they can foster their English skills thanks to daily interactions with international students and acquire/ obtain more knowledge of various cultures and customs. Therefore, they can improve their foreign languages in particular and communication skills in general.
In a nutshell, it can be reckoned that everything has merits as well as demerits and private schools are not an exception. It is, therefore, suggested that students and parents be aware of their financial situations, ability and long – term targets of students to make a proper decision on/ upon whether they should choose private schools or not.

Around the world, rural people are moving to cities and urban areas, so populations in the countryside are decreasing. Is this a positive or negative development?
by Lam Gia Khang (A student at IELTS 24H)
Recent reports have highlighted a significant decline in the rural population due to migration to urban areas. Urbanization is a complex phenomenon embodying both positive and negative dimensions, {influenced by}/{ contingent upon/ on} {various}/ {a multitude of} factors.
On the positive side, the shift from rural to urban environments offers new economic opportunities and improved living standards for individuals and families. Urban centers provide a better access to essential services such as education, healthcare, employment opportunities, and a wide range of amenities compared to rural areas. Additionally, this migration contributes significantly to economic growth by strengthening the urban labor force and driving development in urban economies.
However, alongside these benefits come a large/ wide range of challenges, particularly for rural communities experiencing a decline in population. The decreasing numbers in rural areas give rise to a variety of issues, from deteriorating infrastructure and the closure of local businesses to declining tax revenues for local administrations and a noticeable erosion of community cohesion. Additionally, this demographic shift leads to the abandonment of agricultural lands, resulting in adverse environmental consequences such as increased pressure on the remaining farmland and the onset of land degradation.
Furthermore, the rapid pace of urbanization places a strain on urban infrastructure and services, leading to problems in terms of/ with regard to overcrowding, housing shortages, traffic congestion, environmental pollution, and social disparities. The influx of rural migrants into cities exacerbates these challenges, especially when urban areas are ill-equipped to absorb and integrate the new arrivals.
In conclusion, the view of rural-to-urban migration as a positive or negative phenomenon depends on the effectiveness of governmental and communal responses to the associated challenges and opportunities. It requires the implementation of policies that strengthen both rural and urban areas, promote sustainable urban development practices, and ensure an equitable access to resources and opportunities for all members of society. By adopting a comprehensive approach to address these issues, societies can harness the transformative potential of urbanization while mitigating its negative impacts, and thus enabling inclusive and sustainable development for all.
