Greetings from the Medical Device Innovation Center (MDIC) at National Cheng Kung University (NCKU), Taiwan.

We are pleased to announce that applications are now open for the NCKU Biodesign Summer Course 2026, a 4-week immersive program designed to bridge clinical needs, medical innovation, and real-world implementation. From June 29 to July 24, participants will engage in a comprehensive learning experience that integrates coursework, field visits, and hands-on prototyping.

Hosted at National Cheng Kung University (NCKU) in Tainan, Taiwan, this program brings together international and Taiwanese students to explore the full spectrum of medical device innovation—from identifying unmet clinical needs to developing and validating practical solutions. Participants will benefit from expert-led lectures, clinical and industry visits, and team-based project development, culminating in concept pitching and prototype demonstration.

Knowing your leadership in fostering academic and clinical excellence, we would like to invite Master’s/PhD students, researchers, lecturers, and clinical doctors from your institution to join this transformative 4-week program.

[RECAP] NCKU ra mắt vệ tinh CubeSat mới tại Mỹ
National Cheng Kung University (NCKU) vừa ghi dấu ấn quan trọng trong lĩnh vực công nghệ không gian khi vệ tinh Gemini-Pollux CubeSat được phóng thành công vào quỹ đạo từ căn cứ lực lượng không gian Vandenberg, Hoa Kỳ. Dự án này là thành quả sau thời dài nghiên cứu và phát triển bởi đội ngũ chuyên gia và sinh viên thuộc Trung tâm Khoa học và Công nghệ Vũ trụ Han-Ming Hsia. Toàn bộ các khâu từ thiết kế cấu trúc, hệ thống năng lượng, truyền động cho đến tích hợp phần mềm và xây dựng trạm điều hành mặt đất đều do đội ngũ NCKU tự chủ thực hiện, khẳng định năng lực đào tạo và nghiên cứu chuyên sâu của nhà trường trong ngành hàng không vũ trụ.
Việc vận hành thành công vệ tinh ở độ cao 590 km không chỉ phục vụ các nhiệm vụ quan trọng như giám sát môi trường và quan sát khí tượng mà còn mang lại trải nghiệm thực tiễn quý giá cho sinh viên trong việc giải quyết các thách thức, khó khăn về kỹ thuật. Trước khi được đưa lên không gian bằng tên lửa SpaceX Falcon 9, vệ tinh đã phải vượt qua hơn 100 bài kiểm tra nghiêm ngặt để đảm bảo hoạt động ổn định trong môi trường chân không và nhiệt độ biến thiên. Thông qua dự án này, NCKU tiếp tục khẳng định vai trò là trung tâm đào tạo nguồn nhân lực chất lượng cao, thúc đẩy sự phát triển của ngành công nghiệp vũ trụ Đài Loan thông qua các hợp tác chiến lược và nghiên cứu môi trường vi trọng lực trong tương lai.

[RECAP] Taiwan’s NCKU launches new CubeSat in US
National Cheng Kung University (NCKU) has achieved a significant milestone in space technology with the successful launch of its Gemini-Pollux CubeSat into orbit from Vandenberg Space Force Base, USA. This project is the result of extensive research and development by experts and students at the Han-Ming Hsia Space Science and Technology Center. Every critical phase including structural design, power systems, communications, software integration, and the establishment of the ground control station was independently managed by the NCKU team, showcasing the university’s advanced capabilities in aerospace engineering and research.
Operating at an altitude of 590 kilometers, the satellite is designed to support vital missions such as environmental monitoring and meteorological observation. Beyond its technical objectives, the project provided students with invaluable hands-on experience in navigating the extreme engineering challenges of space. Prior to its launch aboard a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket, the CubeSat underwent more than 100 stringent tests to ensure operational stability within vacuum environments and extreme temperature fluctuations. Through this achievement, NCKU reaffirms its position as a premier hub for high-tech talent, driving the evolution of Taiwan’s space industry through strategic collaboration and future experiments in microgravity environments.

On April 7, 2026, National Cheng Kung University (NCKU) hosted a delegation from the University of North Texas (UNT) to explore strategic academic partnership opportunities. [HONORING] NCKU CONFERS HONORARY DOCTORATES UPON THREE DISTINGUISHED ALUMNI
On March 25, National Cheng Kung University (NCKU) held a prestigious Honorary Doctorate Conferral Ceremony to recognize the extraordinary contributions of three eminent alumni in the fields of Architecture and Technology. As the highest accolade bestowed by the university, these degrees honor individuals whose professional achievements have left an indelible mark on national development and global progress.
We are proud to introduce our three Honorary Doctorate recipients:
🔹 Dr. Joshua Jih Pan – Honorary Doctorate in Architecture Founder and Principal Architect of JJP Architects and Planners, and the first Taiwanese architect elevated to the College of Fellows of the American Institute of Architects (FAIA). A pioneer in green building, Dr. Pan has designed and supervised over 75% of TSMC’s manufacturing facilities, embodying a philosophy that harmonizes nature, humanity, and the built environment.
