Sample Essay: Only government action can solve housing shortages in big cities. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

IELTS có cần Từ vựng?

Mỗi lần kì thi IELST đến nơi, người người tranh nhau chia sẻ rất nhiều tài liệu về IELTS Tự vừng 8.0, 9.0. Nhưng thiệt sự điều đó có cần thiết?

Thiệt ra thì hiện tại không có một tiêu chuẩn nào cho từ vựng 7.0 hay 8.0 trên thế giới cả. Điều làm nên một bài viết học thuật điểm cao nằm ở các sử dụng từ và liên kết các ý trong bài với nhau.

Ví dụ: từ "important"
Band 6.0: It is important for students to learn English because it is good for their future job,
Band 8.0: Learning English plays an important role in making way for a lucrative future career path of many students.

Thật ra từ vựng câu trên không hề "đao to búa lớn mà mình tập trung nhiều ở việc xây dựng 1 câu viết gọn và nghe có vẻ sang chảnh bằng việc sử dụng các cụm từ.

Vậy IELTS có cần từ vựng hay không? Đương nhiên là có chứ. Từ vựng là điều nhỏ nhặt nhất để mình trình bày ý tưởng mà. Nhưng cái sâu xa hơn ở từ vựng là cách dùng nhưng từ đó ra sao.

Trên các từ điền Anh-Anh như Cambridge, Oxford, sau mỗi phần diễn giải nghĩa, đều có các ví dụ kèm theo. Hãy dành thời gian để tìm hiểu thêm phần nội dung này nhé. Bài viết sau mình sẽ chia sẻ cách tra từ điển hiệu quả.

Given is the table comparing the number of kilometers of high-speed railway in 3 countries namely China, France and Japan in 1990, 2010 and giving forecast for 2020.
In general, China has been expected to experience the greatest development in railway among 3 countries. Additionally, all predictions for 3 countries show an upward trend in the length of rail tracks.
In 1990, the longest rail tracks were in Japan (1832 kilometers), which was 2.5 times as many as the figure in France. At the same time, China had no tracks for fast trains; however, 2020 saw an outstanding development in Chinese railway system with more than 3500 kilometers constructed within 20 years. In terms of France and Japan, there was a double growth in the length of rail lines to about 1800 and 2500 kilometers respectively.
In the forecast for the expansion of bullet train transport, an outbreak may continue to be seen in China,where there may be a growth of about 10,000 kilometers of tracks for bullet trains in 2020. This figure of China completely exceed that of two remaining countries which are both predicted to possess around 3750 kilometers of railway tracks.

Đề bài có 2 phần
(1) Ngày càng nhiều người sử dụng thiết bị điện tử
(2) Không còn nhu cầu các ấn phẩm bằng giấy
--> Đề bài đang đưa ra một mệnh đề nhân quả (1) dẫn đến (2). Đối với dạng bài Opinion cho 2 mệnh đề có quan hệ với nhau, mình có thể tiếp cận bài viết theo hướng trong 2 mệnh đề mình sẽ đồng ý / không đồng ý với mệnh đề nào. Ví dụ trong bài viết mình đồng ý với (1) nhưng không đồng ý với (2) ==> Thesis statement bài viết mình thể hiện partly agree (Dù câu thesis mình có ghi là I am highly convinced that ...) .
Từ luận điểm ở trên thì mình chia Body thành 2 đoạn rõ ràng như sau:
- Body 1: Nêu luận điểm về (1) - Agree
- Body 2: Nêu luận điểm về (2) - Disagree

- Câu hỏi đang ở dạng Opinion - mức độ Disagree / Agree về việc chính phủ nên đầu tư tiền vào (1) science education thay vì đầu tư vào (2) other subjects để (i) phát triển đất nước.
- Hướg phân tích
+ Cách 1: Hoàn toàn Đồng ý / Phản đối
+ Cách 2: Đồng ý 1 phần (Ở bài viết này mình sẽ đi theo cách 2) tức là mình sẽ viết 2 đoạn thân bài. Body 1 viết về nguyên nhân vì sao đầu tư vào science education. Đề In many countries today, people in cities either live alone or in small family units, rather than in large family groups. Is this a positive or negative trend?
!. Phân tích đề bài
Đề bài nói vè xu hướng người ta dần thích sống một mình / sống với gia đình nhỏ hơn là ở gia đình có nhiều thế hệ.
--.> Xu hướng này tích cực hay tiêu cực.
Như vậy cơ bản mình phải trả lời được câu hỏi đây là xu hương tích cực và mình sẽ phải phân tích cả 2 khía cạnh của đề bài là sống với extended family và sống với immediate family. Như vậy bài viết của mình sẽ phát triển thành 2 đoạn body. Body 1 mình sẽ trình bày những mặt tiêu cực ở chung với extended family, đoạn 2 sẽ nói về mặt tích cực của việc sống với immediate family.
Các từ có thể paraphrase
- People: citizen, residential,
- City = urban
- Immediate family = nuclear family
- Extended family = family
Positive effects of live alone
1. free to do whatever they want to do without worrying about other people’s opinions
2. Children of small families are given better education opportunities
Negative effects of living with family with many generations
1. Big gap among generations
2. older people tend to impose their thought on their children

Task 2 18/5/2019: Advertising is all around us; it is an unavoidable part of everyone's life. Some people say that advertising is a positive part of our lives. To what extent do you agree or disagree
Phân tích đề: Đề bài đưa ra mức độ đồng ý / phản đối đối với việc Advertising là positive part cho cuộc sống của chúng ta. Ở bài viết này mình sẽ ghi một phần đồng ý với quan điểm của bài viết đưa ra. Như vậy Body 1 của mình sẽ ghi những positive của advertising. Body 2 mình sẽ ghi những negative things cho advertising.
