Learning through play with “Le jeu d’Ôcourant” at La Petite Ecole Ho Chi Minh City

This morning at La Petite Ecole Ho Chi Minh City, CE1 joined a fun learning session with “Le jeu d’Ôcourant”, a board game inspired by the Game of the Goose.

Created by Frédérique Cazenave, a hydrometeorologist within the Franco-Vietnamese “Living with Rivers” initiative, the game raises awareness about flooding, water pollution, and environmental challenges in Ho Chi Minh City.

Following the Saigon River from the Dau Tieng Reservoir to the East Sea, students experience different situations linked to human activities and water management.

The game helps children understand the water cycle, environmental risks, and possible solutions in a simple, interactive way.

At La Petite Ecole HCMC, we help young students see themselves as future actors in environmental protection. We support their sense of responsibility through meaningful activities like Jeu d’ÔCourant, where they learn to care for the environment in a fun and engaging way.

Celebrating the "Coup de Coeur" poster award winners at La Petite Ecole HCMC

La Petite Ecole Ho Chi Minh City is proud to announce that our MS (4 years old) and GS (5 years old) classes have been awarded the "Coup de Coeur" prize in the Poster Competition during British Science Week (March 9-13). Organized by Odyssey Education, this challenge brought together creative entries from all schools across the Odyssey network.

To mark this achievement, our Head of School, Mr. Bertrand, visited each classroom to personally present the certificates to the students. It was a wonderful moment to recognize their hard work, creativity, and the collaborative spirit they showed during Science Week.

Congratulations to all our students and teachers for this well-deserved recognition! 👏

A look at ECA sessions at La Petite Ecole Ho Chi Minh City

The Extra-Curricular Activities (ECA) program at La Petite Ecole HCMC allows students to explore different interests after school hours. These sessions are a chance for them to try new things and challenge themselves in a supportive environment.

Beyond learning specific techniques, students can develop patience and confidence by tackling unfamiliar tasks. Whether it’s through physical discipline, logical problem-solving, or creative expression, these activities encourage children to discover new abilities at their own pace.

Take a look at some of our students in action - from the focus in martial arts and technology to the creativity in culinary and visual arts.

A week of active discovery at La Petite Ecole Ho Chi Minh City

Last week, students at La Petite Ecole Ho Chi Minh City participated in a full week of activities during April Camp. It was a great opportunity for them to stay active, explore new interests, and practice different skills during the school break.

On the sports field and in the pool, students focused on teamwork and physical coordination through football ⚽ and swimming 🤽. In the classroom, they worked on craft projects 🧵such as making dreamcatchers and birdhouses, which helped develop patience and fine motor skills. Yoga sessions were also included to encourage balance and calm.

At La Petite Ecole Ho Chi Minh City, we believe that learning happens in many forms. April Camp provided the perfect opportunity for students to relax, recharge, and continue building a foundation for holistic growth in a fun, supportive environment.

Young geologists of La Petite Ecole HCMC on a journey through time 🌍

Last week, Elementary students of La Petite Ecole Ho Chi Minh City stepped back in time during a fascinating visit to the Geological Museum in Ho Chi Minh City . It was a hands-on exploration into the Earth’s hidden treasures. 💎

Our students had so much fun digging for gems in the sand! They also practiced focusing as they looked at minerals under microscopes 🔬 and explored ancient treasures, including fossilized shells and coral. 🐚.

At La Petite Ecole, we believe that touching, searching, and observing are the foundations of a scientific mind. By connecting classroom concepts to real-world artifacts, we nurture a natural curiosity and a deeper understanding of the world beneath our feet.

The little botanists of La Petite Ecole HCMC on a treasure hunt🌿🔍

Last week, Early Years students of La Petite Ecole Ho Chi Minh City visited the Thảo Cầm Viên - Sài gòn Zoo & Botanical Gardens for a hands-on lesson in nature and observation. 🌳

The little botanists took part in an exciting treasure hunt. Armed with their own plant checklists, students had to carefully observe their surroundings to find specific trees and plants. Once discovered, they proudly marked them off with stickers!

This activity is a perfect example of how we build the foundation for observation skills and focus. By matching images to real-life plants, our students are not just learning about nature; they are practicing active discovery and attention to detail. It was a joy to see them so engaged and proud of every "treasure" they found!

A look back at Book Week at La Petite Ecole Ho Chi Minh City 📚

Book Week (April 6-10) at La Petite Ecole HCMC was a wonderful celebration of stories and discovery. Throughout the week, our classrooms and library came to life with workshops led by guest parents, who shared their time to inspire a love for reading in our students. 📖

A highlight was the "Extreme Readers" photo contest. We loved seeing the creativity of our students as they were caught reading in the most unusual spots - on scooters, up in trees, or even during sports! Congratulations to the winners, who received book vouchers to keep their reading journey going. 🏆

On Wednesday, the campus was buzzing with energy for Book Character Day. Seeing the hallways filled with beloved characters showed just how much these stories mean to our students. 🧙 We wrapped up the week with a Book Fair, where families had the chance to discover and purchase new titles together with FAHASA.

👉 At La Petite Ecole HCMC, we believe these shared experiences are the foundation for critical thinking and focus, turning a simple habit into a lifelong love for learning.

Into the wild - La Petite Ecole HCMC’s Ta Lai adventure! 🌿

From April 1st to 3rd, CM1 and CM2 (Grade 4 & 5) students at La Petite Ecole HCMC spent three active days at Cat Tien National Park. In partnership with Ta Lai Experience, this trip was a chance for our students to reconnect with nature and learn in a different environment.

Whether they were navigating the river on bamboo rafts, kayaking, or trekking through the forest, every activity was an opportunity to build a foundation for important life skills. These moments outside the classroom help our students practice teamwork, independence, and persistence in a practical way. 🙌

It was a joy to see them support each other and enjoy these new experiences together. These are the simple yet meaningful memories that stay with them as they grow.
