WELCOME TO OUR NEW ZOOM WRITING SESSION

We are happy to announce that we have Ms. Thao back to VIC with a new writing session. A few things you need to know about Ms. Thao before you register for the event and actually start your writing.

“I won’t provide you with a long profile, since the whole idea of this online writing session came from the periphery of my life story. There are links to my sample writings though, since this is something you judge with actual products, not my 8.5 IELTS certificate.

After finishing my bachelor’s degree in Australia and working in the Finance sector for a few years, I was at a loss for what to do next. I knew then that I was quite a creative person, albeit not an artist, and I would only be happy if I could embrace both my creative self and my logical self in my work. While I was feeling stuck in my full-time job, a few people who were familiar with my writing skills entrusted me with one or two part-time gigs, where I was to write creative and professional content in English.

More writing jobs quickly followed with just words of mouth. Since then, I’ve worked as an English writer, editor, and copywriter for many projects and small businesses. Many people have come to me to edit their CVs, cover letters, letters of purpose or other formal documents, and later reported success with their scholarship hunt or whatever they wanted to achieve. One invaluable lesson that I learned from all this is that, for any type of writing, there are common principles for writing effectively. To write “effectively” is to get the results you hope for, be it nailing a job interview, or persuading someone in a work email.

One crucial element of effective writing is trying to be short. We are all busy, and forever overloaded with too much information, too much content. There you have it: “How To Write Short & Effectively”.
