Parent Information Evening @ SmartKids International - Preschool / Kindergarten
Thank you to everyone who joined us for our Parent Information Evening. We had a wonderful turnout, and it was a great opportunity to walk you through how your child's learning journey develops across our three classes — Kiddies, Mid Kids and Big Kids.
Molly, Didi and Shelley each shared what their class focuses on and how expectations grow as children move from one stage to the next:
• Kiddies (18 months–3 years) — the foundation stage, focused on independence, communication, social play and emotional awareness. The message here is simple: "You can help. You can try."
• Mid Kids (3–4.5 years) — children take more ownership of their choices, communication and problem-solving, and this is where our PYP inquiry journey begins. The shift is from "What does the teacher want?" to "What am I interested in?"
• Big Kids (4.5–6 years) — children take real responsibility for their own learning, build resilience through healthy risk-taking, and strengthen early literacy, maths and inquiry skills ahead of their next educational step.
Across all three classes, our teachers' role shifts too — from being close by and hands-on in Kiddies, to stepping back and asking guiding questions in Mid Kids and Big Kids, so children build genuine confidence and independence rather than relying on an adult for every answer.
Our shared goal, at every age, is the same: happy, caring, confident, independent and curious learners who feel able to say "I can try.".
This is how “The SmartKids Way” is integrating the IB PYP program.
