This is the Hong Miao(Red Miao),or Shidong-style Miao ceremonial costume (also called Taijiang Miao ), a major sub-branch of the Long Skirt Miao group in Qiandongnan, Guizhou, mainly worn in Shidong, Taijiang County and surrounding areas. It is defined by its signature "red base covered with silver ornaments": the top and apron are bright red, decorated with rows of round silver plaques, bells and embossed silver pieces, paired with a fully carved silver headdress. It represents the pinnacle of Miao silver craftsmanship and embroidery, and is worn for major events such as the Sister's Meal Festival, Miao New Year, and weddings.
A traditional Miao costume is more than just clothing—it is the result of a family's dedication and craftsmanship.
Mothers and grandmothers may spend years creating exquisite embroidery by hand, while fathers, grandfathers, or family silversmiths carefully craft silver crowns, necklaces, bracelets, and other ornaments. Together, the embroidery and silverwork create the stunning beauty of Miao traditional dress.
For many Miao families, a ceremonial costume represents not only beauty but also parental love, family pride, and cultural heritage passed down through generations. Every stitch and every piece of silver tells a story of tradition and craftsmanship.
这套是施洞型苗族盛装（也常称台江苗/红苗），属于黔东南长裙苗体系的重要分支，主要流行于贵州台江施洞及周边地区。它以“红底银花”为核心特征：上衣与围腰为正红底，满缀圆形银片、银铃与浮雕银饰，银冠为满工雕花顶冠，整体华丽夺目，是苗族银饰锻造与刺绣工艺的巅峰代表，多用于姊妹节、苗年、婚嫁等重大仪式场合。

Changqun( Long Skirt) Miao
This is one of the most iconic and well-known branches of the Miao ethnic group. It takes its name from Xijiang Qianhu Miao Village in Leishan County, Qiandongnan, Guizhou Province. It is also called "Long Skirt Miao" for its traditional pleated long skirts that reach the ankles.
Its attire is defined by magnificent, elaborate silver ornaments, striking red-and-black color contrast, and exquisite embroidery craftsmanship. The distinctive silver buffalo-horn headdress symbolizes reverence for buffalo and ancestors. The full set of silver accessories can weigh several kilograms, and the intricate embroidery is often described as "a history book worn on the body" — the patterns record the group’s migration history, totems, and living wisdom. This ceremonial costume is mainly worn for major occasions such as festivals, weddings, and rituals, and is also the most widely recognized Miao style in cultural performances and media.
