A mum inquired about my private class and offered β±50 for 25 minutes.
Gipit ako, but I'm not that desperate... lolπ₯Ήπ€£
As a teacher, I'm not just selling 25 minutes of my time. I'm offering years of study, experience, preparation, patience, and a safe learning space for my students.
I'd rather have no student than lower my rate just to get one.
Know your worth. Then charge accordingly. β¨π

100 RMB - 75 MINUTES CLASS!!π
A few days ago, a student arranged a one-time 75-minute speaking/conversation class with me and paid 100 RMB.
This is not to brag. I just want to remind fellow ESL teachers to know their value.
When I started two years ago, I also accepted lower rates while learning the flow of this industry. That season helped me grow.
Yes, some parents will try to negotiate very low prices. But there are also students who respect your time, effort, and experience and will happily pay your rate.
To teachers who are just starting: keep improving and trust your growth. Your starting rate does not define your future. ππ
