Although paid work is thought by some people to be a useful experience for children, other people consider that it can be detrimental. This essay will explore advantages and disadvantages of this issue.

Admittedly , there are some basic advantages of children doing paid work. Firstly, children doing paid work is beneficial because they can learn to know the value of money. It can also teach them that they have to work hard to earn money. Secondly, having paid work is advantageous as they can know how to save money. As a result, they can afford their favorite items such as shoes or mobile phone by themselves.

Nevertheless, despite the advantages above, I believe that children could face serious disadvantages from paid work. Firstly, one downside of children doing paid work is that they can be slave labour. For example, in developing countries, children can be forced to work manually with a low salary. Secondly, older children sometimes can focus on doing part time job so they can not concentrate on school work. As a consequence, their grade may not meet the requirement of the job that they want to join in the future.

In conclusion, if children can not focus on their school work or be a victim of slave labour, disadvantages of children doing paid work far outweighs advantages brought by this issue such as saving up for something or gain experiences from work. Parent should play a role in guiding their children to do part time or other jobs rightly.
