Did you know? There are three types of Down syndrome:

💙Trisomy 21: The most common type, where each cell has three copies of chromosome 21 instead of two.
💛Translocation: Occurs when an extra chromosome 21 attaches to another chromosome. This type can be inherited from a parent.
💙Mosaicism: Involves a mix of cells, some with the usual two copies of chromosome 21 and some with three copies.

Each type is unique and all contribute to the wonderful diversity within our world. This Down Syndrome Awareness Month, let’s celebrate every individual’s journey!

Behavior Skills Training (BST) is a proven method for teaching new skills and it has 4 highly-effective steps!

- Teacher: The person lead the BST model.
- Learner: The student learning from the BST model.

1. Instructions: The teacher goes over the new skill, including the step-by-step directions, as well as any pertinent definitions and facts.
2. Modeling: The teacher demonstrates the new skill to the learner, teaching them exactly how to do it.
3. Rehearsal: Both the teacher and the learner role-play the new skill. It's an enjoyable and collaborative learning experience! No judgment - only learning!
4. Feedback: Learner practices the new skill and the teacher provides feedback until the participant has mastered the skill!
