A new semester, a new campus, and a new city to discover — for our exchange students, the Orientation Week from August 26–28, 2026 marked the beginning of their experience at Van Lang University.

The orientation introduced the students to Van Lang University and the International Student Support Center, covering essential information about academic life, student support, and university resources, followed by a campus tour to help everyone become familiar with their new surroundings. They also received practical tips for living and studying in Vietnam, learned basic Vietnamese words and expressions for everyday situations — from ordering food and shopping to communicating with local people — and got a taste of Vietnamese culture through a hands-on Vietnamese coffee brewing experience, discovering how to prepare one of the country’s most iconic drinks. 🇻🇳☕

🏙️ The group then headed into the city to explore several historical and cultural sites. At Son Dinh Temple, they visited a lantern exhibition and learned about the traditions and meanings behind the Mid-Autumn Festival. At Do Phu Café, the tour offered a glimpse into a lesser-known chapter of Vietnam’s wartime history through a site once used as a secret base.

Orientation Week may be over, but the exchange journey is only beginning. Here’s to a semester filled with learning, exploration, friendships, and plenty of stories to take home. 🇻🇳✨
