Task 2: In many countries, people increasingly talk about money. Why is it, and is it a positive or negative development?
-----
Monetary concerns are believed to be raised worldwide. This essay will relate to the causes and the drawbacks that this situation refers to.
There are numerous factors that increasingly drive people’s attention to improving their financial capability. Nowadays, residents’ living standards are being effortfully raised by governments. Therefore, there is a wide range of extra categories of costs to be covered, inclusive of security payments, extensive electricity and water bills, or insurance. Aside from basic needs, expenditures on personal satisfactory purposes are also witnessing dramatical raises due to the development, which emphasizes the importance of money in our society in the modern era. Having financial advantages may also bring psychological pleasure to human beings. Throughout history, money is the symbol of wealth, success, and power. Whoever holds this preciousness will be respected and admired, while those without may not share identical treatments.
Although the circumstance is regarded to be contributing to the overall global economy, there are unpreferable effects for the medians. Workers, these days, are exposed to undesired working environments. It is commonly reported that the level of toxicity is increasing among workplaces, which is caused by high board expectations, massive volumes of work, and unending deadlines. As a matter of time, employees would be overwhelmed with illnesses such as stress, depression, or even autism. Extensive concentration on generating income will also affect individuals and their families. With a shortage of vacancies, people must sacrifice their partner interaction or children's guidance. As a result, divorce rates are reportedly higher than ever before, followed by unaddressed juvenile crimes and imprisonment.
In conclusion, income generation is considered the top priority for humans in recent years for its practicality; however, it comes with severe mental and lifestyle damages. Achieving the perfect work-life balance is never an easy task, but will intensely contribute to people’s quality of living.

bachelors/graduates
masters/postgraduates

choice/selection/option
-----
Model answer:
The illustrations provide information about British bachelors and masters who considered other destinations rather than participating in full-time occupations in 2008. Overall, both graphs share a similar figure, with higher education as a major option, while voluntary work was not popularly chosen among students. It is also noticeable that the ratio of graduates and postgraduates was approximately ten to one.
Academic continuity was a dominant pathway for students after completing their undergraduate courses, attracted nearly 30,000 students in 2008. The rate was followed by the number of individuals who were unemployed or started a part-time job, which accounted for around 17,000 students each.
Those who achieved their master’s degree commonly selected part-time work or further study, above 5200 students were merely equally divided in these categories. Unemployment was not often seen by postgraduates, reaching less than 1000 units in comparison to the other major options. Voluntary work was not widely considered by both graduate and postgraduate students, only 3500 and 345 individuals respectively assigned themselves in this field.

Model answer:
There are beliefs stating that undergraduates deserve freedom of choice in terms of major, while others appreciate the STEM subjects since they are more likely to serve practical purposes for student's future careers. This essay will relate to these viewpoints and provide personal perspectives.
On the one hand, limiting the options for students might increase their opportunity for employment. Participating in science and technology fields would provide a more secure career pathway for students. Such occupations as technician, engineer, or doctor have always been in need; therefore, applying for those studies would almost guarantee a job for graduates. Besides, workers of science and technology are typically able to earn medium income if not great. In addition, pursuing STEM subjects would also greatly minimize the risk of failure. The working environment in the creativity or entertainment businesses is exceptionally competitive, the employees must provide new ideas simultaneously, and it requires some sort of talent for such tasks. For instance, a comedian would have to compose an original story that can only be used in several shows, otherwise, it is colorless if repeated.
On the other hand, I believe that students deserve to pursue their preferred academic field. First, personalities play a crucial role in the selection of a study program. Each individual develops a distinguished set of skills, and not everyone is familiar with following guidelines or procedures. Thus, forcing those people into disciplined professions would prevent them from performing their fullest potential. Second, the misconception of prioritizing a secured work has always been the executioner of talents. Especially in Asian families, where parents are obsessed with perfection and success, the passion of becoming an entertainer or an athlete is related to nonsense. This action is actually against the purpose of education, it is also morally and legally wrong to restrain a person’s willingness of learning.
In conclusion, although science and technology aspects assist its learner in certain ways, students should be allowed to study their desired courses, which would tremendously contribute to the development of themselves as well as the society.

Model answer:
There are beliefs stating that adolescents should be penalized for their errors in order to guide them to distinguish between rights and wrongs. This essay will refer to the benefits and methods of disciplining children.
Punishing children who do not follow the guidelines plays a significant role during their developmental phases. Each person is naturally born with an unique and unidentical set of characteristics; however, bad personalities should be eliminated in the early ages. Young kids perform different behaviors toward others, and their unacceptable expressions should be prohibited directly before they become actual personal traits. For example, aggressive or disrespectful actions in children, without getting addressed, would lead to serious problems in the future. In the modern age, youngsters’ participation in a group or an organization should be supervised by parents. Society’s vices are becoming an increasing problem that creates various negative temptations to the younger generation; therefore, it is necessary to let children be informed of the effects such things can cause, and prohibitions should be applied.
Detention or grounding are forms of educational penalization that are delivered widely in developed countries. In families, grounding should act as a message letting the child understand their inappropriate behaviors. A potential approach would be limiting the entertaining time, assigning chores, or establishing curfews for a suitable period. This type of punishment will simultaneously assist the young ones to avoid further mistakes and not be physically harmed. In Western nations, detention is extremely common inside educational institutions. This action is done to adjust the misbehaviors among students, as well as helping them to reflect on their actions. Moreover, time management is a crucial factor during school; hence, young pupils would realize the value of obeying their instructors.
In conclusion, children should be closely controlled, and proper punishments must be issued whenever negative manners occur. Parents and instructors are responsible for choosing the correct method of penalization, avoiding chastisements that would cause physical or mental harm for the child, and preferring educational and instructional solutions.

Useful vocabulary:

Model answer:
The given illustrations provide information about the percentages of power usage in different purposes in Australian families and its rate of produced emission. Overall, heating emits an inconsiderable proportion of greenhouse gas although it consumes the highest amount of energy, while others’ CO2 release approximately doubled their rate of use, except for water heating.
It is noticeable that the majority of electricity consumption is to serve the purposes of producing heat. Water heating accounts for below one-third of the total usage, discharging a similar rate of wastes. Meanwhile, heating in general only creates 15 percent of the total emission for making use of nearly 42 percent.
Lighting, refrigeration, and other appliances consume a significantly low amount of power, accounts for 4 percent, 7 percent, and 15 percent respectively; however, their exhalation rates are doubled. Cooling receives the least proportion of both use and emission, it takes 2 percent in operation and contributes 3 percent of waste.
